Crown Introduces the IQ-USM 810

February 4, 2000 -- The Crown IQ-USM 810 is an eight-input/ten-output digital mixer that uniquely provides dual input processing paths, making it two complete eight-channel mixers in one 2U chassis. In addition, every input and output channel includes a full complement of signal processing as well as auto-mixing features to offer a complete 'system in a box' solution for an infinite range of applications, including auditoriums, churches, public transportation centers, restaurants, retail stores and sports facilities.

"The IQ-USM 810 is truly a unique audio control device," says Jim Stembel, IQ product manager. "Its versatile feature sets allow contractors to not only reduce the number of products installed into a sound system, but to greatly reduce the cost as well."

Each of the eight balanced barrier connector inputs is fully adjustable for any mic-, mic (with phantom)-, or line-level source and is processed through adjustable signal delay and filtering before being split into the two separate A/B Processing Sections. Each section include advanced algorithms for gating, auto-leveling, filtering, compression and auto-mixing. Auto-mixing functions include NOM (Number of Open Mics) Attenuation, Priority Ducking, and Adaptive Gating.

Each of the 16 A/B Processing Sections is then processed by a full 8x8 Matrix Mixer that allows any combination of routing and mixing from any input to output. The Matrix Mixer outputs are routed to eight AUX Audio Outputs. The Main and AUX Output sections further process the signal with individually adjustable signal delay and filters along with an Ambient-Leveler and a high performance Output Limiter for system protection.

The IQ-USM 810's connectivity makes it extremely versatile. The unit is controllable by free 'IQ for Windows' software (http://www.crownaudio.com) via Crown's two-wire IQ Bus, standard RS-232 serial port, or over Ethernet (with 'IQNET Server' software). It may also be controlled by third-party system controllers from companies such as AMX and Crestron. With its distributed intelligence capability, the IQ-USM-810 can even continue to operate when an IQ System is not connected. It also functions as an IQ system interface (IQ Bus) eliminating the cost of a separate IQ interface.

Crown's IQ Software is easy to use and navigate. Compatible with Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT, the software is completely object-based and is configured to follow the signal flow in the IQ-USM 810.

All of the IQ-USM 810 parameters are backed up via reliable FLASH Memory. System configurations may be stored in any of 32 user-definable preset locations, then recalled with front panel controls, switch closures, or the 'IQ for Windows' software. Preset changes can also be scheduled from the IQ-USM 810's internal real-time clock/calendar. An internal 'segue' feature allows elegant transitions with user programmable fade rates between system presets.

The IQ-USM 810 can be easily configured for automatic room combining as well as simple-to-use wall station controls. A Multi-Function Control Port implements analog and digital I/O for control and monitor by simple potentiometer and switch wall controllers and indicator panels.

The IQ-USM-810 utilizes high-quality 24-bit A/D and D/A converters along with 240MIPS of full 32-bit floating point DSP to offer over 100 dB of dynamic range.

The unit is also equipped with a Cobranet-ready expansion slot for future use to route and control multiple digital audio channels via standard Ethernet network components.

A true universal power supply allows the unit to accept 100-250 VAC at 50-60 Hz with automatic switch-over between voltages.
