February 7, 2000 -- Digidesign announces distribution of CM Automation’s MotorMix, the low-cost control surface alternative for Pro Tools and other digital audio systems. MotorMix represents an ideal compact mixing and control surface for Digidesign’s new home studio - Digi 001 (pronounced "Digi Double ‘O’ One").

MotorMix offers real time, tactile control of any Pro Tools system including transport control, track arming, motorized faders, mute/solo switches, pan/send control, plug-in editing and more. MotorMix stands alone as the only control surface to offer 8 bank-switchable motorized faders within its price range.

Each of the MotorMix’s eight 100mm faders is accompanied by a non-detented rotary knob for controlling panning, EQ, auxiliary send levels, plug-in settings and more. The faders can be set to control an unlimited number of mixer channels and up to four units can be linked, providing a total of 32 faders. On-board control buttons are assignable to groups, mute or solo commands, record ready, automation enable or effects in/out. A 40x2 dot LCD display provides a readout for channel assignments and rotary pot settings. All wiring connections are on the unit’s back panel, including an accessory port and MIDI I/O port. With a small footprint (only 10 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" deep), the MotorMix is a space-saving powerful tool for the home or project studio environment.

In addition to offering a low-cost control surface to a Pro Tools system, the MotorMix is an ideal complement to Digi 001. Digi 001 is a comprehensive, plug-and-play 24-bit audio/MIDI digital audio workstation that draws from Digidesign’s award winning professional TDM-based Pro Tools system. Powered by Pro Tools LE, the host-based version of Pro Tools included in every Digi 001 package, the package also includes a PCI card and a multi-channel I/O breakout box.

MotorMix is available immediately at an MSRP of $995 (U.S.) from authorized Digidesign dealers. Digi 001 is available immediately on the Mac OS for an MSRP of $995 (U.S.) with Win ’98 support coming soon. Win ’98 suport will be provided free of charge as an upgrade to all Digi 001 registered users. For more information visit your local authorized Digidesign dealer or visit www.digi001.com.
