February 10, 2000 -- Fostex introduces the VF-16, its first fully integrated digital multi-track recorder and digital mixer. Offering 16 input channels, 16-track recording and stereo 24-bit stereo A.S.P. effects, the VF-16 is the most affordable system in its class.

"The VF-16 is one of the most exciting products to come along in some time," says Phil Celia, director of sales for Fostex Corporation of America. "There is literally nothing on the market that comes close to providing the performance and value that the VF-16 offers. From the home recording enthusiast to the professional production facility, the VF-16 offers a fully integrated multi-track solution at an affordable price."

Designed for project and home recording studios, the VF-16’s mixer section utilizes many of the features and functions found on the popular Fostex VM-200 digital mixer. The unit offers 32-bit processing and mixing, as well as superior digital effects. Each of the 16-input channels has Channel On, Pan, three-band EQ with parametric mid-range, Compressor, Effects Send and two Aux Sends, which are selectable pre/post.

The VF-16 can be totally controlled via MIDI, while the Auto indication and self–illuminating switches allow you to see the configuration of the entire mixer at a glance. With its 99-mix scene memory and stereo A.S.P. digital effects, the VF-16 is the most feature-packed and economical digital multi-tracker ever.

VF-16 provides 16 tracks (24 using FDMS-3 format) of non-compressed 16-bit, 44.1kHz CD quality recording with up to three hours of recording time per Gigabyte. A standard E-IDE 3.5-inch hard drive is used for storage, which can upgraded if a larger capacity is required. Operating functions include COPY/PASTE, MOVE/PASTE, ERASE and non-destructive editing with UNDO/REDO. SPDIF and ADAT I/Os are included as well as external SCSI for backup. The unit also imports and exports WAV file format.

The suggested retail price on the Fostex VF-16 is TBA.
