Although pretty expensive at $3,124, this bass from Modulus is quite a contender against other basses in it's class. The body has a solid walnut top, high-end Bartolini pickups and electronics, gold hardware, and a very cool graphite reinforced neck that is Modulus' trademark.
Needless to say, this bass is a performer. Equally at home on the jazz, rock, or country scene, this bass offers enough variety in sound to please just about anyone. The neck is a high-end performer and should meet the criteria of any professional player. You could buy this bass, sell all your other basses, and never look back. A pleasure to play.

This beautiful piece comes from Brian Moore Guitars. Now here is a name that we just keep on hearing. Brian Moore Guitars also took 6th place in the Guitar Unlimited and won the Guitar Best Value. Boy, these people must be doing something right.

An instrument with a maple neck-through body with ash sides and a AAA maple flame top, rosewood finger board, and great electronics at the price of $1,395. I would say that was something right. This is a very high quality piece that you can probably pick up discounted at a store for around $1000. This is tough competition for any company going after this niche of the bass market.

Is anyone surprised to see a Warwick in the Best Value Awards? I know I'm not. Even though Warwick is known for producing some pretty expensive instruments, this one is quite affordable.
The Streamer Standard is priced at $1000 list and it still plays like a Warwick. This bass is made of carolena wood with an ovangkol neck, wenge fingerboard, MEC soap bar pickups, and passive Warwick electronics. Definitely worth a trip to the store to check out.

Designed by Greg Curbow, this instrument comes from Cort. This is an extremely light bodied fretless bass the plays really nicely. It frets easily and smoothly and has good tone. However, if you're a wood fan you had better keep looking. The body of this instrument is made of Lothite and it has an Ebenol fret board over a real maple neck. However, before you write this one off, let's consider the price of $699. An all wood Curbow made by the gentleman himself is about $3000. A BIG savings if you can live with man made materials. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this instrument when I first sat down to play it, but I was wrong.
For this price, this is a great fretless and is also the least expensive bass in the finals. My opinion is to give this bass a try - it could be what you're looking for.

Look at the finish on this F Bass. Now that's nice. If you look at the pickups you will see that they are also covered in the same wood that was used to make the body. Very cool. This bass is all show. However, it's also all go.
One of the best playing basses in the finals, it's also blessed with a big bold sound. Now, before you go running to the phone to order one, it is priced at $3,199. But, if you're look for a high end instrument, this is a great one.
