Nemesys Announces GigaStudio Software Sampling Workstation

February 3, 2000 -- NemeSys Music Technology, Inc. announces GigaStudio(TM) 160 - a completely integrated, expandable sampling workstation at an unprecedented price ($699 US). For the first time, the entire range of sampling and sample processing technologies has been integrated into a powerful yet intuitive application framework. Featuring up to 160 streaming disk-based voices, 64 MIDI channels, professional automatable effects, enhanced format conversion, and integration with editing tools, GigaStudio redefines the future of software-based sampling, synthesis, and sound design.

Based on the patented EndlessWave(TM) technology, each sampled voice can utilize up to 4.3 GB of memory capacity without consuming valuable RAM storage. Samples are streamed - in real-time - from the hard-drive instead of being loaded into a finite amount of system RAM. Full articulation and performance characteristics of acoustic instruments can be preserved, with sizes exceeding one gigabyte, as in the popular GigaPiano. GigaStudio also introduces the NFX(TM) series of MIDI controllable, real-time signal processing tools. Featuring a powerful array of world-class effects including NFX1 Reverb/Acoustics, NFX2 Chorus/Flanging, and NFX3 Multi-Tap Delay/AutoPan - NFX performs sonic miracles with half the processor overhead of comparable products.

Extensive sample libraries can be instantly cataloged and accessed with GigaStudio's QuickSound(TM) database-assisted sound navigator. QuickSound makes searching vast amounts of sound and sample data a simple process, allowing commonly accessed search criteria to be saved for future use.

The huge selection of native GigaSampler(R) soundware from leading developers such as Best Service, Big Fish Audio, Miroslav Vitous, Q Up Arts, Sampleheads, and Zero-G is fully compatible with GigaStudio. Integrated conversion utilities provide access to an even wider range of formats including Akai S1000/S3000, E-Mu SoundFont, and Microsoft WAVE. Additional samplers will be supported through third-party plug-ins.

NemeSys's state-of-the-art GSIF audio driver architecture allows for truly real-time MIDI response latencies in the 3-8 millisecond range, enabling uncompromising live playability and total sequencer integration. Embraced by soundcard manufacturers such as Aardvark, EgoSys, Echo, Frontier Design Group, Midiman, Soundscape, Terratec and others, GSIF combines cutting-edge specifications with widespread compatibility, giving users maximum flexibility and choice from an audio interface.
