New Paul Reed Smith "Singlecut" Guitar
February 3, 2000 -- PRS Guitars introduces the PRS "Singlecut", the first ever production single cutaway solid body electric from PRS Guitars. The Singlecut features classic PRS construction and build quality, with a full depth mahogany body and carved, figured maple top. The body is 2.3 inches deep carved out to 1.9 inches at the rims. The 22 fret mahogany neck is glued into the body via a graceful curved heel allowing full fret access without weakening the neck joint. Hardware includes the tried and tested PRS Stoptail wrapover bridge and nickel covered Dragon 2000 humbuckers. Asked why the company had decided to make a single cutaway guitar founder Paul Smith said, "I have always wanted to make a single cutaway guitar". Indeed, the very first guitar Smith made as a school wood shop project had a single cutaway. Marketing Director Doug Chandler added, "The single cutaway solid electric is an industry standard. Now our customers can buy this type of instrument with the build quality they have come to expect from PRS". All of the traditional PRS options are available on the Singlecut, including Bird inlays, highly figured "10" tops and the famous rainbow of transluscent finishes. List price including hardshell case is $3000.00.For release in all media one month prior to LA NAMM 2000. For more information visit their web site at www.prsguitars.com.
