Digidesign's Audiomedia III with Session Software for Windows

January 18, 1996 -- Digidesign introduced Audiomedia III with Session Software, a multitrack digital audio production system for the Windows platform. Audiomedia III with Session Software provides 2 to 4 tracks of hard disk recording and 8 tracks of simultaneous playback.

The system combines dedicated hardware and software designed specifically to work together. This eliminates the worry about any limitations in the host computer's processing power and assures fast, reliable performance.

Audiomedia III with Session Software delivers many features including eight bands of assignable, real-time parametric EQ, on-screen mixing, digital bouncing, user-definable crossfades, graphic breakpoint automation of volume and pan, synchronization with digital video, effects sends and returns for use with external effects processors, and a very intuitive user interface designed to enhance speed and ease of use. The Audiomedia III card has PCI bus architecture, high quality stereo A/D and D/A with a signal-to-noise ratio well over 90db, and built-in stereo digital I/O (S/PDIF format).

Several popular MIDI sequencer programs including Cakewalk Pro Audio, Steinberg's CuBase Audio and E-Magic's Logic Audio have announced support for Audiomedia III and more are expected to announce compatibility in upcoming releases.

Audiomedia III with Session Software for Windows will be available during the first calendar quarter of 1996. The system will be available at a suggested retail price of $995 US.

Session v2.5 Upgrade

In a related development, Digidesign has announced the release of Session software version 2.5 for current owners of Session 8 PC. Session 2.5 includes the same new features previously described for the AudioMedia III platform and adds compatibility with the 888 I/O hardware. Registered Session 8 owners will be able to purchase the upgrade for $149 US. Availability will be Q2 1996.
