Fender Custom Classics

January 18, 1996 -- Adding to the highly successful Custom Classics guitar series, Fender introduces the '58 Stratocaster, 60's Tele Custom and 50's Telecaster models at NAMM. Each new instrument captures the look, feel and tone of their history making namesakes with a painstaking attention to detail.

The '58 Stratocaster features an alder body with a solid maple neck, vintage pickups and electronics, vintage-style slot head tuning machines and the world famous vintage Fender tremelo bridge. Available in three standard color options-black, custom 3-color sunburst and a white blond finish, which, in keeping with tradition, utilizes an ash body, this '58 Stratocaster is also offered in custom color and gold hardware options.

A double-bound alder body, standard in black or 3-tone sunburst, with a rosewood fingerboard maple neck distinguishes the 60's Tele Custom, a combination made hotter with the addition of Fender's Texas Special Telecaster pickups. The vintage bridge, slot head tuning machines, knobs and control plate are offered in gold along with a selection of custom color body finishes.

The 50's Telecaster stays true to its heritage with an ash body and solid maple neck configuration. Featuring vintage style pickups, bridge and tuning machines, this new Custom Classics model is available in three standard finishes-blond, 2-color sunburst and black. Gold hardware is an available option.

"The Custom Classics series pay fitting tribute to the Fender tradition," states John Page, Manager of the Fender Custom Shop. "These new models are excellent examples of what we do best, which is create killer sounding instruments with unparalleled playability and classic good looks."
