Fender Lone Star Stratocaster

January 18, 1996 -- Fender's new U.S. Lone Star Stratocaster® packs a classic raw Texas tone and attitude into the familiar sleek styling of one of the world's most recognizable instrument designs.

At the heart of the guitar's distinctive tone are two Texas Special pickups positioned at the neck and mid positions and a custom wound Seymour Duncan "Pearly Gates Plus" Humbucker at the bridge position. Popular for their fat midrange tonal character, the Texas Special pickups are the same as those used in Fender's Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Signature Series model. A five-position blade switching system allows a diverse combination of raw tones, from bluesy to beefy to classic Texas "growl." A single volume and two tone knobs add increased overall tonal control.

The one-piece, eastern hard-rock maple neck is also available with a rosewood fretboard and offers 22 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets. American Standard machine heads are incorporated for accurate tuning. The Lone Star Strat® features an alder body and is available in 3-tone Sunburst, Black, Candy Apple Red, Shoreline Gold and Teal Green Metallic. A special red, white and blue cloisonne' medallion will be affixed to the headstock of each Lone Star Strat.

"Simply put, the Lone Star Strat is a fat sounding, blues-rock tone machine," says Mike Lewis, Marketing Manager, Fender Electric Guitars.
