Lyrrus to Release G-VOX MIDI Driver for Mac

January 18, 1996 -- Mac users rejoice! Coming Winter 1996, Mac users will have the same ability that IBM users have had for the past year and a half: an inexpensive and accurate way to directly link a guitar to any sequencing or notation software.

The G-VOX driver, developed by Lyrrus Incorporated, was introduced in 1994 as an advanced Windows driver that allows the guitarist to go directly from an acoustic or electric guitar to top Windows-based sequencers and notation software. Now computer users of both platforms can take advantage of G-VOX's tracking speed and accuracy for recording into MIDI sequencers using the G-VOX Pickup and Belt Pack. Within minutes, the guitar becomes a MIDI input device for home recording.

The Mac driver (OMS 2.0 compatible) will make its debut at Winter NAMM. "The driver has proven to be a very powerful composing tool for IBM users," said Jonathan Coopersmith, head of Lyrrus Development. "We are very excited that guitarists who use Mac computers will now have the same ability - to use their own guitar to compose and record."

Lyrrus manufactures markets and sells interactive hardware and software for connecting musical instruments to computers. G-VOX links electric or acoustic guitars to a Macintosh or IBM PC-compatible computer so that guitarists can see what they play - note by note fret by fret. It is the only interactive technology that allows the guitarist to play with an unaltered real instrument.

Lyrrus offers a full line of C-VOX software products. While the G-VOX MIDI driver is a composition fool G-VOX software programs including Basics: A Refresher Course, Tour, and Blender are designed to help the guitarist play better faster.
