Alesis Wedge Desktop Master Reverb

January 16, 1997 -- Alesis Corporation announced the introduction of their new Wedge Desktop Master Reverb with Impulse Audition, according to Jim Mack, Alesis' Vice-President of Marketing. The Wedge will start shipping to Alesis dealers this spring.

"The Wedge is an important product because it offers a degree of control not found in typical rackmount multieffects processors. First, since it is dedicated to producing exceptional reverb and ambient effects, it will augment the capabilities of the multieffects processors that users may already own. Also, with its unique physical design, the user interacts with the Wedge in ways that are not possible with rackmount devices."

With its carefully-designed reverb algorithms and powerful processing engine, the Wedge is Alesis' premier ambient effects processor. Its reverb varieties include halls, plates, rooms and several special application reverb programs like Virtual Stereo(TM) rooms, flexible gated reverbs and effects specifically designed for post-production usage like ADR. In addition to its reverb capabilities, the Wedge provides other effects like delay, chorus, flange, rotary speaker simulation, autopanners, multieffects and more. A total of 256 programs are offered, with 128 presets and 128 user programs. The Wedge provides four 45mm sliders to adjust several effects parameters in real time.

To let you hear every detail of each reverb parameter, the Wedge features Alesis' Impulse Audition(TM) button, which emits a full spectrum audio impulse. This impulse is designed to make it easier for engineers to manipulate parameters such as diffusion, decay, and reverberation swirl.

The Wedge's unique design and small footprint allows users to place the Wedge directly on top of consoles, amplifiers and video editors so all parameters may be adjusted from within the optimal listening position. The Wedge features balanced 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs, and full MIDI implementation is included for automated modulation control and program backup.
