Cakewalk StudioWare and VS-880 Support

January 16, 1997 -- Cakewalk Music Software, the leading provider of music creation software for PCs, continues its push for total studio integration with software support for the Roland VS-880 Digital Studio Workstation in Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0. The Roland VS-880 is a dedicated non-linear, multi-track digital studio workstation that will interface directly with Cakewalk Pro Audio for Windows.

Shipping in Spring 1997, Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 will control and record Roland VS-880 editing functions from the desktop, including Play, Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop, Record, Shuttle/Jog, Pause, Arm/Disarm Tracks, Auto Punch, Set Locate Points, Pan, EQ, and other operations.

Cakewalk StudioWare(TM)

Raising the Windows 95 audio workstation to a new level, Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 lets users create their own control interfaces for their favorite studio gear, such as hard disk recorders, mixing consoles, effects processors, or any other device that can respond to MIDI and System Exclusive (SYSX) data. Cakewalk StudioWare provides on-screen emulation of the hardware's front panel, greatly simplifying work flow.

"The best results always come from the best combinations. I'm sure customers will appreciate the synergistic effect of Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 and the Roland VS-880," commented Ikutaro Kakehashi, chairman and CEO of Roland Corp.

"StudioWare makes executing complex operations as easy as clicking a mouse. It's a milestone in full-studio integration, " said Tom Cook, president of Cakewalk Music Software. "

"Given the popularity of the Roland VS-880, we knew that our customers would want Cakewalk Pro Audio to support it right out of the box. "

Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 will ship with several Cakewalk StudioWare panels for a variety of studio gear, in addition to the Roland VS-880. Users also can easily create and distribute Cakewalk StudioWare panels, and the company plans to make additional StudioWare panels available throughout the year.
