Hyperprism 2.0 Adds New Effects, Multi Processor Support

January 29, 1998 -- Arboretum Systems is adding seven new effects, plus support for Macs with multiple processors and new live audio processing to the redesigned Hyperprism 2.0 software for Power Mac, debuting here at NAMM show this week.

Hyperprism is a sound design program offering dozens of audio processes - a virtual rack of effects - which can be "played" much like any musical instrument. Hyperprism's distinctive Blue Window(TM) allows easy gestural control of two or more effect parameters. Imagine being able to tweak the wet/dry mix, room size and regeneration of a reverb effect, all simultaneously, with a single mouse movement. Hyperprism remembers and replay every gesture, so you can create sounds which incorporate dynamic, evolving parameter changes, sounds that change and mutate in real-time.

Hyperprism 2.0 features a new Vocoder which allows you to select any waveform as a modulator, and Arboretum's HyperVerb(TM) offers strikingly realistic ambience simulation. Other new Hyperprism modules being demonstrated for the first time at NAMM show this week include the Frequency Shifier, a new distortion effect, X-Convolve, the Z-Coder and an updated doppler effect.

In addition to the new effects, Hyperprism 2.0 (aka H2.0) now offers path automation editing for total control over real-time parameter movement, new non-destructive file editing functions, support for multiple sequential effects and a distinctive new look.

New real-time play-through mode allows you to use Hyperprism 2.0 like a stand-alone hardware device in any live performance or studio setting. Simply route "live" signal to your Power Mac (or sound card's) audio inputs, process in H2.0, altering the sound in real-time with the Blue Window, then play the signal back out to your PA system, DAT machine or other audio devices. No file acquisition and no hard drive space is needed.

Hyperprism 2.0 also features new direct support for the Korg 1212 I/O and the Digidesign Audiomedia II and III cards, without the use of Sound Manager drivers. AMIII owners can process 24-bit signals at their full bit depth in Hyperprism, thanks to Arboretum's use of 32-bit floating point internal calculations.

Hyperprism 2.0 includes these effects: Vocoder - Frequency Shifter - HyperVerb TM Distortion - X-Convolve - Z-Coder - Doppler - Pitch-Time Changer Compressor - Room Reverb - Hall Reverb - Ring Modulator - Single Delay - Multi Delay Echo - EchoTranZ(TM) Low Pass Filter - High Pass Filter - Band Pass Filter - Band Reject Filter - Phaser - Flanger - Chorus - Tremolo - Vibrato - Pan - Auto Pan - Noise Gate - Quasi Stereo - Stereo Dynamics - More Stereo -Sonic Decimator(TM)

Used on top albums by artists including Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran, Public Enemy and White Zombie, Hyperprism is equally at home in post production and sound design suites, appearing on major films including The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, Contact and Apollo 13.

Hyperprism 2.0 runs "stand-alone" on any Power Macintosh computer, no additional audio software or hardware required. H2.0 does not include the plug-in versions of Hyperprism, which are available separately and in combined packages for platforms including Pro Tools and Pro Tools TDM, Cubase VST, DirectX and Adobe Premiere plugin formats. Hyperprism2.0 ships in the spring of 1998 at a suggested retail price of $249.00, international pricing may vary. Hyperprism2.0 replaces the product known as Hyperprism-PPC, discount upgrades are available.
