Arboretum Debuts New Plug-in Pack for Mac & PC

January 29, 1998 -- Arboretum is debuting their new crossplatform Plug-in Pack at the NAMM show in Los Angeles this week. Arboretum is combining their popular Mac and PC/Windows plug-in effects sets, adding a fistful of exciting new processes and releasing them in a single, low-priced package.

The new Hyperprism Plug-in Pack includes all the effects found in:

  • Hyperprism-DX (for Windows/DirectX compatible applications)
  • Hyperprism-MMP (for Power Macintosh Premiere-format programs)
  • Hyperprism-DAS (for Digidesign Pro Tools software's AudioSuite menu)
  • Hyperprism-VST (for Cubase VST Mac)
Each of these Hyperprism variants consist of dozens of audio signal processing algorithms for applying sophisticated, professional-quality effects to digital recordings.

New Hyperprism effects include a Vocoder which allows you to select any waveform as a modulator, and Arboretum's new HyperVerb(TM) offering strikingly realistic ambience simulation. Among other new Hyperprism modules being demonstrated for the first time at NAMM show this week are the unique Frequency Shifter and a new distortion effect.

Used on top albums by artists including Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran, Public Enemy and White Zombie, Hyperprism is equally at home in post production and sound design suites, appearing on major films including The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, Contact and Apollo 13.

First released in 1994, Hyperprism is best known for its unique Blue Window graphic interface, which gives the user real-time gestural control over effect settings. Hyperprism is developed and marketed by Arboretum Systems, Inc., a privately-held California software company. One of the first firms to market audio plug-ins, Arboretum specializes in creative signal processing and sound design solutions.

The Hyperprism Plug-in Pack ships in the first quarter of 1998 at a suggested U.S. retail price of $299.00, international pricing may vary. Discounted upgrades and crossgrades to the new bundle are available for registered owners of previous Hyperprism editions.
