QDesign's MPEG Pro AudioSuite(TM) Plug-In Now Shipping

January 29, 1998 -- Today Digidesign® released the QDesign MPEG PRO stereo compression software for the Pro Tools platform. MPEG PRO is an AudioSuite Plug-In that offers state-of-the-art MPEG encoding and decoding within Pro Tools and without the need for costly MPEG hardware.

MPEG PRO's compression fidelity and unsurpassed performance enable studio and multimedia audio professionals to take advantage of the MPEG standard for efficient audio archival and distribution. The MPEG PRO AudioSuite Plug-In is designed to work with any Digidesign Pro Tools system, from Pro Tools 12.4 to the software-only Pro Tools with DAE Powermix(TM) system. This technology enables audio professionals to produce MPEG compressed audio and to play back MPEG encoded audio by decoding it instantly within Pro Tools. The software creates transparent CD-quality audio at 6:1 compression and Internet-audio quality at up to 60:1 compression.

i-Media Audio MPEG PRO for Windows '95/NT is also available from Digidesign. This stand-alone 32-bit Windows '95/NT program is designed to work with any MPC-compliant audio board. This enables audio professionals to produce MPEG compressed audio with their AudioMedia III or comparable card at the high end or with their Sound Blaster or similar card for basic multimedia applications.
