E-mu Systems Announces License Agreement with AphexExciter technology incorporated into samplers January 29, 1998 -- E-mu Systems announces that a license agreement has been signed with Aphex Systems of Sun Valley, California, which covers Aphex's Aural Exciter® technology. As a result of this collaboration, E-mu will incorporate Exciter technology into their current line of ESI and E4 series samplers and will continue to enhance the technology through this agreement. "We are very pleased to be working with the originators of Aural Exciter technology to improve the clarity and brilliance of the samples in our products" explains Don Scott, President of E-mu Systems. "I hope that this is only the beginning and that we can collaborate on other exciting innovations in the future." Aphex Systems holds several patents on Aural Exciter technology and offers a range of professional audio products incorporating their technology. The Aphex® technology is used to add definition and high-end sparkle to sounds without adding high frequency energy, and in so doing is in stark contrast with more common high frequency boost or equalization circuits. The Aphex technology has been employed in music recording and mastering applications for years, and is considered by many to be the "finishing touch" to add sizzle to a final work. Marvin Caesar, President of Aphex adds "E-mu is well known for digital audio production tools. Aphex is well known for providing technology that enhances the recording and music production processes. The licensing of Aphex technology for use in E-mu products will allow customers to take advantage of the innovations of both companies while remaining entirely in the digital domain."
