E-mu Systems announces the E-mu Audio Production Studio

Digital sampling, synthesis, and sound design for Windows 95

January 29, 1998 -- E-mu Systems is proud to announce the debut of the E-mu® Audio Production Studio at Winter NAMM in Los Angeles. The E-mu Audio Production Studio is a sampling/audio system consisting of a Windows 95 PCI card (the E-Card), a unique Audio Access Bay front panel, and a powerful suite of E-mu and third party application software. The E-mu Audio Production Studio provides high-quality sampling/SoundFont(R) creation, a 64-voice/32-channel MIDI synthesizer, and unmatched real-time effects for audio processing. Designed for musicians, sound designers and multimedia content developers, the E-mu Audio Production Studio allows the user to deliver legendary E-mu sound

Don Scott, E-mu Systems CEO says - "This ground-breaking technology is just the beginning of our next generation audio products for the desktop musician. This product is a direct result of our collaborative relationship with Creative Technology and represents years of development by the joint E-mu/Creative Technology center."

"E-mu's focus is to understand and embrace a wider spectrum of the music market in order to satisfy more of our customer's needs. We are very excited that NAMM '98 provides us with the opportunity to introduce this product to such a vast and significant audience," comments Dave Bristow, E-mu Systems V.P. Of Marketing.

"The E-mu Audio Production Studio integrates MIDI, sampling, synthesis, and basic hard-disk recording into an affordable system for computer-based sound design," says Denis Labrecque, Marketing Manager of the Business Development group. Labrecque continues, "E-mu revolutionized the art of audio manipulation with musical instruments and we intend to do the same for desktop computer sound."

Revolutionary chip technology

The E-mu Audio Production Studio is powered by the newly announced EMU10K1 multimedia audio processor, a custom chip designed to handle a number of high level audio functions including: wavetable sampling/synthesis, streaming digital audio, sample rate conversion, and simultaneous multi-effects processing.

Professional-quality audio at a breakthrough price

The E-mu Audio Production Studio is designed for musicians, multimedia developers, sound designers, and hobbyists-anyone who needs high-quality sampling, disk recording, processing, and editing capabilities in their computer. Until now, such high performance technology was only available in systems which are considerably more expensive.

Features

The E-mu Audio Production Studio consists of a main PCI card with S/PDIF and balanced analog I/O, an Audio Access Bay with additional S/PDIF, selectable mic/line inputs, and headphone output. Also included is a powerful software suite for playback, recording, and sound design, developed by E-mu Systems and third party vendors. In ddition it features 64 hardware voices supporting SoundFont sounds (wavetable samples/ synthesis) and/or streaming audio, as well as a unique patchable effects architecture, with multiple effects from the E-mu library.
