January 29, 1998 -- Reaffirming its commitment to bring to market professional audio products that deliver only the highest in performance value, Fostex Corporation of America today announced the MI market debut of its new Fostex CR200, universal CD-R recorder that records for both professional and consumer CD applications and takes masters from virtually any audio source - including hard disks, cassettes, minidiscs, and DAT. The Fostex CR200 features include three Digital Synchro Recording Modes, which allows the CR200 to be armed and synchronously started from a master DAT player equipped with an S/PDIF connector, such as the Fostex D-5 DAT deck, as well as two manual recording modes. Using a dedicated key on the CR200's front panel, this feature will automatically and precisely record track IDs, and automatically stop and start the CR200 by detecting a source signal. The CR200 also offers a Digital Fader Function, which permits precise, perfect crossfades during recording; selectable digital copying codes via rear panel DIP switches; an 8-pin parallel port, and wireless, infrared remote control. Other features include AES/EBU inputs, XLR balanced +4 dBu inputs, and RCA -10 dBv unbalanced I/Os. The CR200 will also convert any digital input signal ranging from 32 kHz to 48 kHz into the CD standard 44.1 kHz. And the rackready CR200 is engineered with an exceptionally robust platter mechanism that resists vibrations and improves overall sound quality. The Fostex CR200 CD-R recorder is perfectly suited for a wide variety of studio applications, including personal /project studios and large conventional facilities. The cost-effectiveness of the CR200 means that a CD-R "burner" can be available for each studio, if desired. And broadcast operations will benefit from the CR200's ability to precisely and easily mark start IDs, allowing for seamless on-air and production performances. "The Fostex CR200 is real-world technology that gives users everything they asked for in a CD-R recorder, and is priced in an equally realistic manner," said Phil Celia, Fostex Corporation of America Director of Sales. "And it will provide those benefits to an incredibly wide range of users." For more information, visit their web site at www.fostex.com.
