Alternative Size Toms... New Finishes... Improved Bass Drum Heads on Extras

January 29, 1998 -- Pearl is now offering alternative size toms in the Masters Series: MMX Masters Custom, MHX Masters Mahogany Classic Limited Edition, and MRX Masters Custom Extra. One inch deeper than standard depth toms and one inch shallower than power toms, alternative sizes overlap the tuning ranges of standard and power toms for expanded versatility and coverage in all musical styles.

All Masters Series toms-Standard, Alternative, and Power-include I.S.S. (Integrated Suspension System) tom mounting brackets and 2.3mm SuperHoop II rims.

Pearl is also introducing new colors to the Masters Custom and Masters Custom Extra series. Sequoia Red (#110), a rich see-through grain finish, is back by popular demand and is available on both series. Orange Burnish (#180), Amber Burnish (#181), Walnut Burnish (#182), and Wine Burnish (#183) are now available on Masters Custom Extra. This makes it possible to mix and match Masters Custom and Masters Custom Extra components.

Bass drum heads on the Masters Custom Extra have been upgraded to Remo PowerStroke 3. PowerStroke 3 feature built-in muffle rings for great sound virtually out-of-the-box without additional muffling. Front PowerStroke 3 heads on all Masters Series bass drums are now black (Ebony).
