Sabian Teams With Evelyn Glennie To Create 'Glennies Garbage'

January 29, 1998 -- 'Glennie's Garbage' is the name affectionately given by renowned solo percussionist Evelyn Glennie to her new selection of SABIAN Signature series crash and accent/effects cymbals. Created for the young British performer, whose masterful multi instrument capabilities and global popularity recently saw her being awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the Queen of England, was in search of 'something really quite different when she approached SABIAN with her concept Available in 10", 12", and 16" sizes, 'Glennie's Garbage' are the latest SABIAN additions to Evelyn's arsenal of sound.

'I really was quite happy with my SABIAN Sound Control cymbals, however I wanted to add to my cymbal selection, to increase the color and drama of my sound with a selection of harsher responses in a variety of timbres I knew SABIAN could easily handle my request."

Created from a rare nickel/silver alloy which gives the cymbals their special silvery appearance 'Glennie's Garbage' benefts from the raw response and compressed tonal value of this metal, to create sounds that are drier, more metallic and biting than those of traditional bronze cymbals. With their high profiles arid heavily hammered surfaces, these are 'dirty' sounding cymbals which emit a penetrating dark and focused accent that can be raspy arid biting... almost exotic and threatening.
