Yamaha Announces DTX Latin Set and Expansion Kit

January 29, 1998 -- Yamaha Corporation of America announces the addition of two new electronic percussion products to their highly-successful DTX line-the DTX Latin Set (DTK5L) and the DTX Expansion Kit (DTK4E). The Latin Set allows standing percussionists to enter the electronic world while the DTX Expansion Kit provides acoustic drummers with added versatility.

The DTK5L Latin Kit provides a compact rack system ideal for standing percussionists that offers the quality of acoustic drums with the convenience and versatility of an electronic kit. The package includes a free-standing rack, two drum pads, one cymbal pad and two new bar pads. The new bar pads house two independent trigger surfaces and are perfect for triggering auxiliary sounds, or for functions such as increment/decrement and sequencer start/stop. Six new Latin drumkit programs have been added to the DTX sound module. In addition, the DTK5L will eventually come with three DT10 drum triggers, so percussionists can have the feel of acoustic drums while drawing on the myriad of sounds available in the DTX module.

The DTK4E Expansion Kit provides acoustic drummers with the added flexibility of having electronic sounds at their fingertips. A compact rack attaches directly to either a high-hat or cymbal stand, and can be positioned for the drummers convenience. Two drum pads and two new bar pads allow drummers to trigger various percussion sounds and eliminate the need for many cumbersome acoustic devices. Four new auxiliary percussion kits have been programmed into the DTX sound module. Delivery of the system is expected late Winter 1998. Suggested retail price: TBA.
