Yamaha EMX2000 Powered Mixer
January 29, 1998 -- To further strengthen its position in the powered mixer market after the successful introduction of the EMX640 one year ago, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division introduces the compact and light-weight EMX2000 to expand its existing line of powered mixers. Providing flexible audio mixing, high-powered built-in 200 watt stereo amp, and on-board digital effects processing, the EMX2000 is perfect for small clubs, theaters, churches, conference/board rooms, and virtually any small sound system requiring high performance on a limited budget. EMX2000 features eight mono channels, two stereo, 3-band EQ, two monitor sends, one effect send, and two stereo and one mono output. The on-board digital effects provide 16 programs including vocal, hall, room, plate and gate reverb. While the effects send feeds the internal effects processor, it can also be used for external devices which would then return their signals back to one of the two stereo sub inputs. A flexible seven-band graphic EQ on the stereo output enables correction of room-acoustics and provides feedback control. "Yamaha has found great success with its EMX640 powered mixer and determined that there was a specific requirement in many applications for more inputs while maintaining high performance, portability and unit flexibility," states John Schauer, product manager, Sound Reinforcement Products, Pro Audio Group. "Take the power of this unit and add to that the unbeatable price point, the EMX2000 is a serious product for the small install, powered gear-to-go market." The suggested retail price of the mixer is $999.00. The built-in light-weight amplifier provides 200 watts of stereo power at 4 ohms, (or 400W bridged), using the new Yamaha EEEngine technology. The Energy Efficient Engine offers high power output, cool running and low current draw. Twice as efficient as most conventional amplifiers, the Yamaha EEEngine delivers the same output, at only half the current. All input channels feature balanced XLR-type mic inputs, line-level phone jack input, inserts on channels 1-4, peak level indicators, and variable gain control. The EMX2000 is compact and comes equipped with a carrying handle for easy plug-in-and-go system setups.
