January 28, 1999 -- GT Electronics, a division of Alesis, is now shipping the first products in its line - two FET and two tube condenser microphones. The AM51 ($549 USD MSRP), AM52 ($699 USD MSRP), AM61 ($999 USD MSRP) and AM62 ($1299 USD MRSP) are available nationwide at musical instrument and pro audio dealers.

"GT Electronics' mission is to combine Aspen Pittman's product vision with Alesis' resources to create stellar products," remarks Allen Wald, executive vice president of Alesis. "The initial demand for the four AM Series microphones has been phenomenal. The great sound, the great price, and Aspen Pittman's long lineage in mic and tube technology resulted in a great initial product offering from GT, and this is only the beginning."

GT Electronics new AM Series comprises four new large-diaphragm studio condenser microphones. The AM51 and AM52 are class-A FET microphones, while the AM61 and AM62 utilize an all-tube preamplification signal path. All four mics feature a super-thin 3-micron diaphragm for excellent sensitivity and response, and the GT5840M tube offered in the AM61 and AM62 provides professional-quality sonic performance and high reliability. The AM51 and AM61 are fixed cardioid mics, and the AM52 and AM62 offer selectable polar patterns.

Alesis Corporation acquired the microphone, amplifier and signal processing technologies of Aspen Pittman's Groove Tubes in the third quarter of 1998. Pittman continues to supply vacuum tubes independently to music retailers and other manufacturers.
