Apogee Introduces Enhanced DAT Mastering TapeJanuary 28, 1999 -- Apogee continues to improve its media products line with the introduction of an enhanced DAT product, offering the lowest C1 and C2 BLERs (block error rates) of any available DAT product. As recording densities and bit resolutions increase with the introduction of new 24 bit DAT recorders, even greater constraints are placed on the integrity of the recording media. Apogee's new Master DAT product addresses these concerns with a superior product that can be relied upon for mastering and archiving alike. Apogee Master DAT features a truly unique packaging system: the Apogee Producer Pak. For the first time by any media manufacturer, Apogee's DAT 10-pack boxes are shipped in an innovative re-usable carrier as part of the standard packaging. This new padded tape carrier is made of strong synthetic fabrics and zips up to create the most effective method of transporting DAT masters between sessions ever devised. The Producer Pak replaces cardboard boxes as the only protection for your masters - indefinitely! Two unique business card-sized windows with clear plastic covers are included for merchandising and archiving, making identification of projects and DAT lengths a snap. The new Apogee Master DAT is available in 19, 34, 64, 94 and 124-minute lengths. "It is ironic that informed choices are made whilst selecting hardware, yet so often the importance or recording media is overlooked," says Richard Wilson, Apogee's Digital Media products Manager. "Having to re-record a master - or even worse, losing a master for good - because of tape failure is not an option any of us want to encounter," he went on. "The new enhanced Apogee Master DAT takes this medium to a new standard of performance in all respects." The new DAT forms part of the new and expanded Apogee Digital Media Products line, and will be featured in national and international advertising with the theme, "Understanding the technology... We care about your masters as much as you do." For more information, visit Apogee at www.apogeedigital.com.
