Restoration-NR is Next Generation Noise Reducer

January 28, 1999 -- Arboretum Systems today gave the first preview of their next generation high resolution hiss removal software Restoration-NR at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles.

Restoration-NR surpasses the sound quality of all other hiss removal software while remaining completely simple to use. It uses 32-bit floating point calculations to generate up to 4,000 bands of gated EQ, does adaptive broadband noise reduction and combines sophisticated automatic noise recognition with unique artifact control techniques.

What it all boils down to is that Restoration-NR provides new levels of precision, definition, transparency and sonic purity. It will eliminate more hiss with less coloration or loss to the original sound than any other software noise reducer. It performs like the most expensive dedicated systems yet Restoration-NR requires no special hardware.

Professional applications for Restoration-NR include:

  • Music restoration - For any tape clean-up job, from priceless studio masters to treasured personal cassettes and reels.
  • Audio forensics - Designed for the most critical restoration and recovery jobs.
  • Archiving - Reduce annoying tape hiss before transferring recordings to CD.
  • Clean up field recordings, Interviews and dialog - Removes extraneous HVAC and camera sound, adds greater professionalism to broadcast production and audio for film or video.

Key features of Restoration-NR include:

  • High Resolution Hiss Removal - Behind Restoration -NR's streamlined front panel are up to 4,000 separate filter bands. It's the most selective and transparent software noise reduction system available.
  • Better Sounding Noise Reduction - Restoration-NR offers a significant advancement in sound quality, pushing the noise floor farther out of the signal with less impact on high frequencies.
  • 24-bit / 96 kHz Compatible - Restoration-NR does all processing with 32-bit floating point calculations. It'll handle any Wave file at any bit depth or sample rate your Windows audio editing program can support.
  • Ease of Use - Automatic noise recognition, built-in artifact control and an uncluttered interface make Restoration-NR pure simplicity to operate.
  • Separate Threshold and Attentuation - Dial in the best range for processing and select the amount of hiss reduction with these simple knobs.
  • Special Cutoff and Boost Controls - Minimize or eliminate unwanted high-end "roll-off." Remove more noise without causing muddiness.
  • Learn and Search Modes - Let Restoration- NR's automatic noise recognition find and reduce hiss automatically. Or show Restoration-NR the noise floor "fingerprint" then let it go to work. Both methods produce instant super-accurate results.

Restoration-NR requires a Pentium computer 166 MHz or faster with Windows 95/98 or NT, a Windows sound card and one or more DirectX (Active Movie) compatible audio editing applications. Restoration-NR works on Wave files at any bit depth and sample rate supported by the host sound editing software.
