ILIO Announces Classic Drumming Series from Spectrasonics

January 28, 1999 -- Spectrasonics will be releasing a new series of live drum loop products called the Classic Drumming Series in 1999. Each of the ten titles in the Classic Drumming Series focuses on a unique category of rhythm. Retro Funk, BackBeat and Brazilian are the first three to be released (due in the Spring), with seven more expected by the end of the year. Additional styles will include representations of nearly every type of Rock, Country, Jazz, Reggae, and Soul drumming styles, plus many others. Authenticity in Sound, Feel and Style was the primary consideration in creating this series. Producers Eric Persing and Bob Wilson (Liquid Grooves) went to great lengths to ensure that every groove was performed with maximum inspiration and was truly "the real deal."

One of the biggest departures from other drum loop discs is that multiple world-class drummers were recorded by different top engineers in numerous state-of-the-art Hollywood recording studios.

The featured players include:
Gregg Bissonette (Joe Satriani, Santana, Maynard Ferguson, Don Henley)
Alex Acu-a (Weather Report, U2, Paul McCartney, Placido Domingo, Elvis Presley)
Bob Wilson (Liquid Grooves, George Benson, The Crusaders, Quincy Jones)
John Ferraro (Lyle Lovett, Larry Carlton, David Benoit, Albert Lee)
Eric Boseman (Liquid Grooves, James Newton-Howard)
The Escola de Samba Drummers of Rio de Janiero

The Classic Drumming Series will also be one of the first collections to be Groove Control(TM) activated. Developed jointly by ILIO and Spectrasonics, the innovative new Groove Control method allows you total control over the players' tempo, feel, time signature, pattern and even the pitch of their drums! You can also layer different drum loops. For instance, you could combine a Batucada percussion groove with a vintage swingin' Go-Go loop, over a slamming Zeppelin backbeat. The power, feel and subtlety of a live drummer, combined with all the editing control of your MIDI sequencer results in a quantum leap in what you can achieve in stereo sampled drum loops.

Groove Control(TM) is a registered trademark of ILIO Entertainments and Spectrasonics.
