Product Info
Pickup features: Active Piezo
Impedence or other specs: 4 conductor acoustic switching input jack
Price Paid: US $30.00
Purchased from: EMG Inc.
Instrument
Model of guitar or bass: Martin
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Fishman Blender system
Other pickups on guitar: Tone Hound Acoustic Sensor
Artists using this pickup: Dennis Agajanian, Mark Bonilla
You musical style(s): all
Reason for pickup change: Jack change was suggested by manufacture (Wolff Erickson Incorporated)
The standard jack used on the Tone Hound Acoustic Sensor is the same as that used on a Fishman or a Baggs but
Wolff Erickson recommends the EMG ultra jack upgrade. It is still a retrofit part on an acoustic guitar with a pickup jack
already installed in it.
Sound
Perceived output level: better overall frequency responce
Tone: crackling cable/jack noises eliminated
Sonic evaluation: I found the overall sound quality improved due to the low capacitance coupling of the jack contacts.
People are trying to improve their sound by useing better cables these days but this is the first major improvement I have seen
in input jack design. I am going to change over to this jackl system on my electric guitars as well. All you need is a threaded sleeve
and your there. I will gladly make the modifications to get this type of improved performance.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: All
Overall Rating
Comments: I feel that the EMG ultrajack design is a must for
all instruments. I can't wait for them to produce
an electric guitar version.
With this upgrade to my Tone Hound Acoustic Sensor system
I do not believe you could get a better sound out of mine or any other acoustic guitar.
It reproduces the acoustic sound of the instrument exactly.
Thank you EMG Inc and Wolff Erickson Inc
Excellent Job.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this pickup a: 10 Fantastic value
