and on my last review i said that it had lasted 40 years why not a few more? well...it broke 3 months ago, and it was just repaired today. the handle fell off, and the nuts fell inside the chassis shorting out well...everything...then since vox is so bad w/ keeping records the techs couldn't find schematics for it, and they couldn't recognize the output transistors. soo...i'll say this, if u buy an old vox...buy a back up amp, if for nothing else buy one for a headphone practice amp, it could save ur ass on stage.

i currently bought a 1967 vox cambridge amp. it's solid state, it has a very wet reverb and an awesome tremelo. it has a 12" speaker and a bunch of stuff on the back. on the back it has a built in tuner (it gives u an e), a line reverse switch which is a mystery to me...i can't tell a change in sound really, an auxilary speaker out, and a 3rd input. there are 2 inputs on the top and one in the back...i think u can find a good one. it also has a spot to plug in a pedal which gives u the option of adding mids, reverb and tremelo. for controls on top it has volume, treble, bass, reverb, speed and depth (for tremelo). i believe it pumps 45 watts and has a valve preamp. it's a beautiful amp...old but still tons of options...how many amps do u see today with that many features that sound good?

my setup is rather extreme but i'm using a Epiphone black beauty with a 57' classic in the neck and 57' classic plus(es), i plug that into a proco rat, to a boss ge-7 graphic equalizer, to an electroharmonix holy grail reverb (my other amp has no reverb), to a boss tu2 tuner pedal, to a line 6 DL4. my pedals are powered by a voodoo labs pedal power 2 which is increadible by the way. but with this setting i play brit, modern and classic rock, and it sounds awesome. the amp is kind of noisey even w/o my pedals, but what amp doesn't make noise? if u put the tremelo on u can hear the white noise being tremeloed...if that's a word. there is only one channel which is crystal clear, if u play hard it'll break up because of the valve preamp but it's a nice sound. the reverb is very wet and deep but the tank is a little too sensitive to ground movement, definately put it on a rack if u get one. with the pedal u really have good control over ur sound, it isn't clicky it's a smooth transition and u can definately hear the difference with the settings. i did find the amp to be a little bassy even with the bass and treble on 5 but if u cut it down or use ur bridge pickup the sound is very distinct.

it's lasted 40 years...i've had it for 2 days...i couldn't tell ya but it seems to be strong. all that i know that has been replaced is the capacitors, i'd imagine the tube in the preamp, and the electrical cord may or may not have been changed.

vox is absolutely horrible! their website is useless and the only reason i'm writting this review is so other people know that this amp exists. i cannot find a thing about this amp anywhere so if u have one and u know more than i do, definately email me, PLEASE!

i've been playing for 3 and a half years...yes i'm a little new to the game but i'm pretty well learned. other than the stuff i already listed i have a musicman hd 130 head with a fender ge412 cab, if u need a loud amp that one is increadible, and i play bass too so i have a gk 800rb with an ampeg 410 cab, with a 79 P Bass. I've played a lot of equiptment in my past, i've played twin reverbs with strats, dots, casinos, and les pauls and i'd pick this amp over a twin reverb. granted it's not as loud, but it's all that i'll ever need. i plan on using it to record, to play clubs large or small really, and i feel that it'll work damn well in those situations. this amp is heads and tails over the new vox stuff...no it's not an ac30 but it's a killer amp i would love to get it restored so it doesn't decompose on me.
