Very basic features. Gain, Volume, Bass, Treble, overdrive switch, Headphone/Line out jack. I use this amp for playing in my appartment and don't miss anything.
Sound Quality: 10
I have an Epiphone Les Paul and like fuzz wah style blues. The amp's clean mode is really excellent, but I did't like the overdrive. To harsh for my taste. But trying a tube overdrive pedal (Kampo 901, Tube Works clone) with the amp in overdrive mode worked wonders! I am totally satisfied with the tonal flexibility and characteristics now! Sweet tone, more sustain and harmonics, more...chaos to shape with your fingers, I would day. I used a POD before, but from a tonal point of view, for my ears, it is no match for this amazing little amp in combination with a tube pedal! My favourite POD amp models were Mesa Boogie (+Wah), Fuzzbox (+Wah) and for the "cleaner stuff", Blues Tweed. I have the feeling, that the vox now gives me all of these. Strange...

I have been playing guitar for about 10 years but bought the Epi Les Paul half a year ago. I experimented a bit with the POD to get an overview of the tonal qualities of different amp models, but somhow, I was not satisfied by the fact, that the POD is not a real amp. So I tried the vox, because I only needed a low wattage pratice amp. I was so amazed by this litte amps brilliant clean tone, so I got it. The overdrive is ok, but it get's even better, if you use a tube overdrive pedal.
I must say, I am not an amp expert and don't play very loud. For me, tonal characteristics are more important than volume.
If you are looking for a low wattage practive amp, try out this little guy at a local store and see, if you like it. If you don't like the overdrive, don't miss to try a tube overdrive with the vox in overdrive mode!
For 75 Euro + 59 Euro for the tube pedal...an amazing deal!

The features of this amp are very basic and have been described already. I give it a nine, because the only thing I wish it had is a reverb.
Sound Quality: 10
I generally play blues, and original classic rock sounding music. My guitars include an Epiphone SG, an Oscar Schmidt hollowbody and an old Kingston hollowbody. I'm a big Peter Green fan, and try to mimic his style as best as I can.
This is my practice amp and the one I carry with me when I travel. When I jam with my band, I use a Vox AD30VT. I don't gig.
The P10 sounds incredible, especially for a 70-dollar solid-state amp. It has as close to a tube sound as I've ever heard from a solid state amp. The clean channel is just amazing, and the overdrive is not bad either. I seriously believe it's the best sounding amp you're gonna find for under 100 bucks. In fact it sounds better than a lot of more expensive units.
With the Kingston plugged in, it really has an early electric-blues sound. The SG sounds a bit muddy through it, but I'm pretty sure that's more the guitar (and cheap pickups) than the amp. My buddy played his SRV Strat through it a couple weeks ago and it REALLY came to life.
Sound quality - for a 70-dollar amp, it's perfect.

I've been playing off and on for about 20 years, usually by myself, but more recently with a band. This is the second Vox I've bought, but it won't be the last. If it were stolen, I'd definately buy another one. For the money, it can't be beat.

I bought my Pathfinder 10 in early '02 as a birthday present to myself. I didn't really need it, but it looks so cool and the price was so cheap that I couldn’t resist. As it turns out, for a $79 10-watt solid state amp, it’s a pretty darn good li’l amp!
I mainly use it as a late-night practice amp, and for that purpose it works extremely well. It’s certainly not loud enough to use in gig situations, or with a drummer. But it’s more than powerful enough for the living room. The headphone jack is also a nice feature for those REALLY late night practice sessions!
I also like the attention to detail that went into the cosmetics. It has the same vintage basketweave tolex and brown diamond grillecloth found on AC30s, as well as the white piping and gold fascia strip. The golden logo on the face is just like the one on an AC30, but smaller. It looks like a baby AC30, and is gorgeous. This amp is worthy of just being used as a decoration.
Sound Quality: 7
I play ‘60s music and ‘60s-inspired music mainly, so a Vox is a no-brainer for me. But how does the P10 stack up against the mighty AC30? Well, we’re really talking apples and oranges here of course. That said, the P10 is clearly voiced to emulate the chime and sparkle of its big brother, and, for what it is, it does a fine job. It definitely sounds like a Vox.
The P10 really excels at sparkly clean tones. My Rickenbackers especially love it (especially with the requisite compressor stomp box), as do any hollow or semi-hollow guitars. My Tele sounded a bit harsh - the bite of the bridge PU was a bit too much for it to handle with the tone knob at 10, but with the treble rolled off a bit it sounded fine. I find that the best tone comes with the master volume ALMOST dimed – which fattens and warms the tone ever so slightly. I keep the tone knobs set the same as on my AC30 – treble at 3/4th up, bass at 1/3rd – and get a similar tonal balance.
The distortion channel (accessible by a push button) sounds very… transistor-like. Harsh and buzzy and not very musical. I never use it. Not being a distortion guy, I have no idea if a distortion pedal would yield better results. Generally speaking, this amp sounds excellent when played clean, but once it starts to break up, its tone leaves a lot to be desired. But that’s transistors for you!
The little speaker sounds a lot fuller than I had expected. It has a nice tonal range from deep bass to glassy treble, and never sounds tinny or wimpy. I especially appreciate the label on the sticker, which essentially repros the Vox “bulldog” design found on the gold Oxford speakers installed in US-made Vox amps in the ‘60s. Nice touch, Korg!
Reliability: 10
I have had no issues with reliability, and it appears to be solidly built.
Customer Support: 10
I've never dealed directly with Vox/Korg, but Vox VP Mitch Colby makes himself available on several internet forums.
Overall Rating: 8
I’ve been playing since 1977, and have owned several Vox amps over the years, including a Royal Guardsmen, Cambridge Reverb, AC50, and a rare tube Berkeley. I also owned an ’85 AC30, and currently use an AC30 TBX as my main amp.
If this were stolen, would I buy another? Probably. It’s probably the best practice amp available for under $100.
What I love about it: Its classic Vox cosmetics, the richness of its clean tones, its portability (light as a feather).
What I dislike about it: Crummy overdrive.
What I wish it had: the ability to run off of batteries, like the old Vox Escort.

I just bought this thing I am sure it was made this year in 2005. It has 2 channels both gain and clean. Headphone jack, line out, bass and treble. I did not buy this for for features and the relative simplicity is O.K. I bought this amp to play over at my parents after my lesson, or on a rainy day when visiting. For being such a small put it under the bed amp it has pretty good volume. It fit the bill for my inteneded use.
Sound Quality: 9
I use the amp with 490/498 PU's and I play most anything, mostly blues. When I bought this amp, I did not even play it or any other small amp. I did not figure to like such a small solid state amp having owned one before only to sell it and buy a class A tube. Then, the above need came up and I just bought what was cheap. However, I was supprised, the amp is quiet, has tone and good volume. I don't want to tell anyone that the amp it as good as a hand wired, vintage Fender, et. al. However, the amp has a good range of sound even pretty good bass response for such a small unit.

2 year warranty, except for the speaker which has 90 days. Looking at the unit, it seems very well made.

Playing about 5 years. I own a Faded LP, one acoustic and a Gibson GA-5. I plan to keep gear to a minimum, although at some point I'll have a bigger amp and another guitar set for slide (I think that I will need one) maybe not. There is nothing about this amp that I do not like or additional features that I find necessary. If lost or stolen, I will want this unit. This was a happy acccident and I was able to cut a pretty good deal.

Pretty cut and dry. On/Off, Headphone/Line Out, Volume, Bass, Treble, Overdrive/Clean Button, and Gain. I got this amp so I could play in my apartment. My Fender Blues Jr is ok for the this, but I think I need new tubes so I found this just in time. I kind of wish it had reverb, but that changes the price of the amp, I imagine. I had an old Danelctro Corned Beef Reverb pedal I used with my old portable pignose. I like the VOX much better. This is a solid state amp, 10 watts, and has 6.5 inch speaker. Very portable.
Sound Quality: 8
I play blues, rock, and southern rock mostly when I plug in. I use a 1999 Fender American Standard Strat. I've got the volume, treble, and bass set at 10 0'clock and the gain at about 8 o'clock. If you crank it all the way it doesn't sound that great. It's got a great sound where I have the settings and I also use an Ibanez TS7 Tubescreamer to round out the sound. I use that with all of my amps.
I read a few reviews before I purchased the VOX and a lot of folks really like the clean channel. On my amp the volume really drops out and I have to turn everything up to hear it. There may be a problem, but I don't really use the clean channel all that much anyway.

I've been playing for about 10 years now and I've had a few amps. I have the VOX, a Fender Blues Jr, and my favorite, a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue. My VOX is very cool and I love how user friendly and portable it is. This amp sounds great with single coils and humbuckers. I plugged a Les Paul into it at the store as well and it sounds sweet! This is a great apartment/dorm amp and a great amp for everyone from beginner to professional.

This has very basic features but they are self explanitory and all do their jobs reasonably well. THe line out switch is great as you can use it like a head but be careful what you use it with ( more Later)
Sound Quality: 10
I use all my guitars with this amp and also a bass when i'm recording. that mean that there are singal coils of various brands and types as well as humbuckers. I saw this in Sam Ash several years ago and tried a few guitars through it. since the guitars were ones i already owned i was basically testing the amp while stringing a salesman along (good fun). I love this sound. great sounds for my tone ( i subscribe to the philosophy that tone it mainly in your fingers) the clean channel sounds really clean and brittle until you turn up the gain. with gain and level at 12 'o clock it comes to life and sounds warm and "dare i say it???" tubey. setting the EQ is your own business but the EQ is flexable enough to accomodate almost everyone i've met.
Now the line out feature which makes this amp either a head or DI box. As a DI box this amp is realy good although i prefer micing it up for which this amp is also well suited. as a head for powered speakers it is variable. It sounded great through my princeton 65's 12 inch celestion but crappy thruogh my old PEAVEY STUDIO 40 . And great thruogh my behringer. so if you have a good cabinet it can be used that way to. on it's own it is loud enough for the ocasional jam or tiny gig.
Reliability: 10
I've had this amp for years and it has fallen down stairs twice. (both times i made the mistake of asking someone to carry it for me although hoe it could be to much for them is beyond me.) still works perfectly and the extra dings just make it look really cool.

I love this amp as a small recording demo or practice amp. since i like the clean tone of my GMX 212 better i wont use it as a head anytime soon but it is great to know the option is there. it has never let me down and when i need an amp somewhere for rehearsal or wqhatever i usually bring this and it typically blows the 20 watt amps away. loud and great sounding for a good price. This little "Monster" Rocks Out,Pops Out,New Waves Out,Technos Out..exc..exc..!!!Yeah! For years I had my backbone hurted gigging around clubs, pubs abd small arenas with tube amps such as Fender Super Reverb,Marshall JCM 800 and..Vox (ac30)...most of the time I was unsatisfied since to have that "groovy" tone you're searchin'for you have to crank up the tubes to 8...never to say everybody asked me to fall down those "great garbage "..or those "coffins" ,if you prefere!!!
This time I'll make them see,I'll have my revenge, you bet!
I use custom made telecasters, strats,ES 335,Les Paul Custom,Epiphone Casino and a 12 string electric (yes, a Fender'65 "hockey" headstock replica made from a friend of mine...he's a great liuther)..I also use tons of pedals such as old EHX (Electric Mistress,Bad Stone,Memory Man,MicroSynth) MXR (Dyna Comp,Phase 90,Analog Delay,Distortion +)...I also use old Roland analog guitar Synthesizers (GR 300-GR 100-GR 700) as well the ultimate GR 33 digital)
The pathfinder is fantastic: 1 main in( clean or distorted),treble bass, gain and volume,1 headphone/line out...what else you could ask for from a 77 euros amp?
Sound Quality: 10
The sound is amazing, unbelievable from such a little cheaper amp..so rich and hi-fi! but wait...it doesn't sounds hi-fi as many could intend...it sounds as a tube hi-fi! Brilliant and Deep, crucnchy if you like (just press the overdrive switch )...I didn't use it as a distrortion, since I prefere my old MXR distortion + and a Maxon 808...I turned the overdrive switch and put the gain to 10...not bad I can say,it sounds as the infamous 60's-70's "Mosquitos Fuzzes"...sometimes that's the ice on cake if you play Acid rock or Cream,Beck,yardbirds...I prefere the overdrive to 4-5...very "Revolver",very Beatles..as well as very "Stones"..I can't Get no duh duh duh...
My favourite is the Clean...as I told you before I prefere to use pedals to obtain my sounds...I also play a bit of Jazz with ny ES 335...the clean sound fits jazz very well
Reliability: 3
I bought my 2nd pathfinder 10 combo just yesterday (I have a Morley Tripler so that I could use both them )..I am sure my next gig in a local pub people will ask why I bring "2 radios" on stage..laugh,laugh,and kidding me if you like...I'll have my revenge as soon I'll begin to play with my "radios"!!!

I play blues, hendrix style, and I have two more amps: A Rocktron rampage 80 wich is about the most unreliable motherf**ing amp I´ve ever had (and that is a shame because it sounded wonderfull before the transformer melted down in the middle of a live blues jam) and a crate gx212 that is just too loud for home practice or small venues. But my vox? My vox is the piece of gear I love the most, I couldn´t belive my ears whem I gave it a full blast with my yamaha pac311 ms fitted with gibson HB. five minutes out of the box and I fell inlove.
From clean to mild overdrive it smells like valve tubes, about higher gain settings? hey, a 6.5`` speaker doesn´t do miracles. I´d say that up until 7 on the gain knob it REALLY surprised me.

And it doesn´t give you any back diesease!

I fell in love with this little VOX amp. I'm not the one, that would normally write such reviews but I was so surprised about this little VOX baby, that I had to.
Of course this amp was sold as a practice and recording amp but I just played a little gig with it on last saturday. I purchased it last friday and was familiar enough with it to play a gig on saturday.I guess there is no need to say that this amp is relatively basic. But they did the basics very well. This 10 Watt solid state amp has one input jack and an output jack for headphones or recording consoles. One gain, mastervolume, bass and trebble knob as well as a push button for distorted, more heavy sounds.
Believe it or not, this 10 watt, 6.5 inch speaker amp has more power than some much more expensive and larger amps. The styling is absolutely cool and original, looks like it's bigger brother the legendary VOX AC30. Some guys where kidding and laughing at me, when I plugged my little baby into the powerline at the above mentioned gig. They asked me why I brought a radio with me. Later on, when we played some songs, they wasn't ableto shut their mouth, they couldn't believe that this smart amp was that loud and good sounding.
Sound Quality: 10
I play a pre CBS Fender Telecaster build around '72, '73 with it's original pick up's. I play different music styles, from rock to country etc. . This amp is not noisy on the clean setting. It has a brilliant clean sound, in my ears it sounds typically british. Especial the combination of my Telecaster and this amp gives me a sound like the Rolling Stones, Beatles etc. on the clean setting. Distortion is also OK.

I had some very large gear in the past (I play guitar since around 25 years)cabinets and all these stuff, also had an expensive Fender amp, that sounded pretty good. But this one is my favourite now. Very easy to carry from one place to another, enough power for practice, jamming or play smaler gigs and a very clean and brilliant sound, that of course can be varied to crunchy or total distorted and anything between.
I am an absolute VOX fan now. I compared the sound directly with a Marshall practice amp that had 5 more watt (don't remember the exact name), I would never change my little VOX into a Marshall. My friend who own this Marshall, tested the VOX with his Les Paul copy and was so surprised about the good sounding pathfinder, that he's thinking of selling his Marshall amp and also purchase a VOX.
Sorry for my bad english !

Brand new '04 Korean made SS Practice amp...V/G/B/T input /LO-HP Overdrive switch..pretty basic but works well. Great for practice and home recording..with the OD on has enough umph for small jams and tiny gigs (java hut, house parties, xmas carols for the OAPs..)just keep the drummer on bruses or rods!

Squire Strat, Tele& cheepie 335 copy..mostly use this clean for Brit invasion stuff and other '60s style pop, R&B ect. Pretty quiet esp. on clean..noisy if you crank it but I never do..Sounds pretty Voxy ..with the 335 I can get some nice "Beatles Tone" clean. With the OD on and just a bit of gain the Tele does the Yardbirds thing.. Back to clean; add a Dano Trem ped and the Strat.. vola YOU are Hank Marvin! ( dorky glasses optional) Has the chime and "ampy resonance" (I read that in a AC-30 review once..) that defines the Vox sound..most impressive for a budget offering, and IMHO this sounds a bit better than the 15r. BTW forget about "brutal distortion" it's not here..it's overthere in the Brian May

the clean tone is quite impressive for such an inexpensive amp. My tele comes through clean and open, without a hint of mud. It sounds much bigger/fuller than the tiny speaker might lead to beleive. I havn't jamed with it but i bout it for practice/recording and it suits me perfectley. I dont bother with the amps od section. I got this amp about 6 months ago, as my bass amp is not the best for practising guitar. It has clean & distortion channels, bass and treble controls, gain & volume. Headphone jack is a good thing. This thing is plenty loud enough for using in a bedroom.
Sound Quality: 9
I use it with an Epiphone G-400 SG, and this amp is great! Some people have complained about the distortion sound, but I love it. It is unique, and at full gain is hilarious. Suits messy songs like the White Stripes, and with my SG I can get lots of nice distorted sounds. The clean channel is great too, I use my friend's USA Tele and it is clean as a whistle. It is a very rich sound considering it is a 6" cone! You have ot keep the gain as low as possible to get the best clean sounds though (makes sense huh).

This amp sounds amazing!!! I use a couple of Gibsons with it and they both sound beautiful. I can't imagine any guitar to not sound great with this amp. I've never played a Vox amp before, always have been a marshall guy, but this one is the perfect practice amp for me. The gain is just powerful, I mean you could really do heavy heavy rock with it. (for the price)AWESOME!!, tiny cheap amp, but with a terric sound, clean is the best i've heard in this range, and in a lot a realy lot of upper ranges too!!, very clear beautifull sounding, the first time i heard it i was impresed with the bass it was giving; dont espect a tube twin sound but yes a very voxy clean.
the distortion, at the begining, i didnt like it so much, it gets a little buzzy with the gain turned up, but once u get use to it its very playable...with any style, with low gain about 0,5 an so, you can get a good blues tone, increasing it you'll geting heavier sounds even to play metal tunes at gain 10.
Reliability: 10
very compact and solid.

10, for me this is THE practice/room/jaming amp, with its realy voxy looks its like an adornment for the room, not like that ugly cheap "marshall" or "fender" practice amps, you can easily carry it everywhere, and of course get good tones out of it.
the distortion could sound better, maybe like the vox valvetone pedal, but i think vox sacrife the quality of the distortion to get a wide range of sounds to cover more styles, wich is good too.

This amp has just the features I was looking for. Input jack, headphone/line out jack, clean/overdrive channel button and gain, treble, bass, and volume controls. Nice and simple.
It's solid-state, rated 10 watts, and has a single 6.5 inch speaker but it is quite loud and big-sounding for such a small amp.
I frequently use the line out jack to drive the 12-inch speaker in my Crate GX-30M to add a little more volume, and it sounds even better.
Cosmetically, it looks and feels great. I'm amazed at the level of detail for such a seemingly small amp.
Sound Quality: 10
I use this amp with a Jay Turser JT-200C (Les Paul copy) and Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, and it sounds great! It has enough power and volume to fill a room no problem. Even plugging my Digitech GNX3 into it sounds good.
Alone it gives a great clean sound, and the overdrive is better than the overdrive channels on way more expensive solid-state amps.
Reliability: 10
It seems very well built with quality parts. It's solid-state so I don't forsee any problems, assuming it never falls down 10 flights of stairs. I take good care of all my gear, regardless of what I paid for it.

I've never had to deal with them and hope I never do!

I bought it to keep in my room to keep from lugging bigger amps up and down the stairs all the time, and it serves its purpose well. It was only $75 at a local music store (Huber and Breese, Detroit area) because they were probably looking to get rid of the 3 they had. What an incredible value! This is probably the best $75 I've ever spent on any piece of guitar-related gear.
Very versatile and many possibilities for this amp. I miked it and recorded a few tracks with it, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Some day I'd like to get my hands on an AC30, but this will help pacify my Vox desires until then.
If you have a hundred bucks or so to spare, buy this amp! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!
Feel free to contact me if you want some sound samples.

2003 VOX Pathfinder 10, "solid state"(but "similar" to tube sound)10 watts of power!Has those instantly recognizable, warm British sounds you’ve come to expect from a VOX. This 10-Watt, 1 x 6.5" combo’s eye-catching looks are classic VOX and I love the basket-weave, leather-look vinyl, distinctive diamond grille cloth and, of course, chicken head knobs! I'm a sucker for vinyage looking amps! Small but all-important details such as the gold beading and white piping have also been faithfully reproduced on this amp, perfectly recapturing the legendary look of the VOX amp.
It looks really "voxy" which I love! This is the perfect practice amp for me and for anyone considering buying their first guitar amp.
Very light(10lbs) and has a carry handle on the top, not that it needs one, but it looks cool.
Top Panel Features
Gain Control, Treble Control,Bass Control, Volume Control, 2-modes(clean/ overdrive switch) ,Headphone/Line Out Jack. This dual output carries a specially filtered signal for use with either headphones or for direct connection to a soundboard or recording console. The LINE OUT gives you a good sounding signal for recording or live work without having to mic up the amp. Inserting a jack-plug into this jack will mute the internal speaker.
Power ON/OFF Switch & LED. On/Off switch for mains (AC) power to amplifier. Plus power indicator LED.
Dimensions: 14.96"(w) x 6.69"(d) x 10.24"(h)
Weight: 4.8Kg or 10lbs
This little buddy unfortunately does not have a footswitch for switching between channels, This is one thing that would have been useful just for jamming with a couple of buddies or something, but what can I expect for $100.00 Canadian.
I just fell in love with the look of this amp,Vox went all out in making this amp look as good as it sounds.Great effort given by the people at Vox! I'd have to give the features a 10 for the catagory this amp falls in.
Sound Quality: 10
I want to start off by saying the following. This is my only amp at the moment. I was ready to buy a fender twin reverb amp for $775.00CND the day before I bought this amp. When I phoned the music store, it was sold 15 minutes prior to my call. Neeedless to say, I was pissed! Thats a great deal for that amp in canada. So, I figured I wasn't meant to have the twin. Well, I'm glad i didn't get the twin now because the nexy day I went and bought this amp for $100.00 new!
I didn't plan on buying this amp but I saw it and liked the look of it and thought to myself," All I really need at the moment for guitar playing at home is something small like this, a little practice amp". So i plugged a epiphone casino into it and tried it.........
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in complete utter shock, Really! i knew it was heaven sent for me. i absolutely loved it from the start! It reminded me of the fender twin kind of tone at a lower volume. And lower volume is what i needed now since i have a 8 Month old boy and have to be quiet most of the time. I just wanted a great tone, and here I thought I had to buy a fender twin amp to get it! NOT!
I literally played it for about 10 seconds and unplugged it and went and bought it immediately, the only one in the store i wasn't going to let this one get away like the twin! This is my kind of tone! and i can't fathom how i'm getting it out of a small little squirt like this. I call it my baby VOX!
I'm using a epiphone B.B king lucille semi-hollowbody guitar and a washburn J-6 Montgomery through this little baby!
The B.B king epi sounds unreal through this amp, I gotta say, " I was litterally in shock", my wife came home and I was going on and on...telling her how i found the tone i was looking for in a 10watt $100.00 amp. needless to say, she was happy. i bet she was thinkin,"now if he only could settle for a $100.00 guitar!"
Ok, all that aside, this baby rocks! I'm serious. Metal heads would not like the natural sound of the amp, but with an effects unit maybe? I've been playing Blues/ jazz for 15 years now. I owned a super reverb, marshall 5150 ("yes they did make a 5150 model back in the80's) amp, traynor studio mate tube amp, played through my buddies fender hot rods... and vibrolux reverb.
I know what a good blues tone is when i hear one.
The thing I like best about this amp is , it holds it tone evenly all the way up, I love the sound the amp gives at high volume with moderate gain. This is a real blues jazz amp combo, i like the crystal clean sound of it too,not quite as crystal as a twin reverb amp, but comparable in a way. and the overdrive is nice for blues when slightly "broken up". Don't like the distoration when fully cranked(volume10,gain10). but then again, what amp does sound good that way? My jazz guitar sounds awesome through this amp!
I don't know if it's just the selection of guitars i'm using or if it's just that this amp is just kick ass!
i didn't think small practice amps like this were meant to sound this good. i'm so glad i tried one out. if it's solid state, I usually pass it up. I've learned a lesson in this case, never judge a book by its cover! As someone said earlier in one of the reviews" thy didn't print on the bo,"tube'like sound", they should have, maybe more people would try em out. If you had a tube vox, maybe this amp would sound horrible to you, i don't know.
It has great bass and glassy trebly when needed. i don't really miss the mids like some people have said. i hardly ever used them anyways on any amp i've had, maybe dailed at "3" at most some amps at 6. With the epi b.b lucille guitar you can get an incredible variety of tones out of this amp. Don't get no hum either at moderate volumes.
But this amp will definetly surprise you, i mean it, i can't stress that enough. I might get another one and run it in stereo with my varitone b.b king epiphone,"it has stereo inputs", i'd bet that wo

no opinion really . I Take care of it...for gods sake "it's a "baby" VOX! If it breaks down, i will just buy another for a measly $100.00 new. i think it will last if it's taken care of.

I've been playing for 15 years, and I know good gear when I hear it.I wouldn't buy any marshall practice amps this size, they all suck! same goes for fender and whateverin this catagory of amp....this amp is practice amp king in my eyes. I would buy 2 more even if i blew it up playing, or if it got stolen.I compared this amp to a fender blues junior which was $599.99 canadian. Nice little amp too but the difference wasn't worth another 600.00 bucks, really!
With the b.b king epiphone, this amp kicks ass. And my washburn j-6 montgomery jazz guitar sounds sweet through this little sucker!
This amp sounded so good to me that i wanted to keep it a secret and tell no one about my little discovery until i read about what all you guys had to say about it too.....hehehehe, guess its not a secret?
best practice amp out there for this kinda dough!if you hear a better amp for 100 big ones, let me know... again ...have to give it a 10...sorry harmony cantral guys, but it is what it is in this catagory of amps. not fair to compare it to a fender twin or anything, really.

2001 model according to the box and manual. For the purposes of description, it's a 10 watt solid-state practise amp with a 6" speaker. Two channels with clean/overdrive switch, gain, trebble, bass adn volume controls, line out/headphone jack. Lacks reverb, but for the size, and price, that's to be expected.
Great looking amp with vintage-styled knobs and tweedy cabinet, reminds me of a mini AC-30, carry handle on top and open back cab. Smaller than many practise amps I have used, but very light and compact, a perfect bedroom amp or one for guffing around with a couple of mates. Not sure how it'll hold up in a band practise situation and I doubt it's a gigging unit unless you mike it up to a potent PA or run it through a seriosuly big speaker cab.
For what it is, it has all the neccessary bits and pieces, though I feel it could of used a midrange EQ frequency, though I won't get picky. It's probably aimed at the very basic market, but that's what I bought it for. The best thing is that these features, although common, do work well i.e. the knobs are all responsive and the switches click with definition. As such, I rate it well.
Sound Quality: 8
This amp is the most tonally variable practise combo I've used in some time, more close to the sound I've been after - a mixture of overdrive and distortion that is neither too heavy nor light. I'm influenced by bands like Interpol, The Strokes, At the Drive In, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The White Stripes - my tone of choice is a dirty overdriven sound that can clean up nicely, or go into full cranking haze. This is evidenced on the White Stripes album "Elephant" or on Interpol's "Turn on the bright lights"
Currently, I'm using a Squire Bullet strat with single coils running through a Boss BD-2 Bluesdriver and DS-1 Distortion. I personally prefer humbuckers (had an Epiphone SG I regretably sold a few weeks before I got the Vox) but the Squire sounds very nice, I get a bluesy kind of fuzz that I'm fond of running it through the clean channel with the gain on about 1/3 and the volume higher, both pedals respectively set for mild overdrive and distortion.
The gain channel on overdriven channel produces a similar sound to my pedals, though probably a bit harsher and with too much bass. The Vox also runs the best clean sound I've heard in some time on a combo this size, surprisingly so. I like the fact I can add a bit of gain on the clean channel as I don't like my clean too clean, if you know what I mean =).
A lot of people had blagged the distortion and whilst I agree it's not the best, I prefer it to many other amps, including my larger 40w solid state amp and even my 50 all-tube head and cabinet, at low volumes anyway. However, I like the fact that the Pathfinder 10 doesn't sound like it's about to explode at higher volumes and keeps its tone intact.
I'm really looking forward to getting a humbucker'd guitar and shredding out some sounds on the Vox, but for now, I'm pretty happy with the sounds. Again, a mid-range EQ and reverb would of been handy, but I feel I've done this amp justice with my current range of gear.
Reliability: 7
Don't really know, only had a couple of days. However, the last owner never had any issues and he apparently pushed it pretty hard over the 3 years he owned it. I've read that Vox are pretty mechanically sound most of the time.
Certainly wouldn't gig with it - just not enough juice unless it had a major overhaul and got mic'd to a 500w PA. Even then, it'd probably not have the balls to play to a crowd of over 30. It's a practise amp anyway, and I have a tube amp and cab for gigs.
For the usage it's going to get though - me jamming at home for half an hour most days and band practise once a week or so, it should do the trick.

Been playing guitar sporadically for about seven years, but only really with a degree of committment in the last two. I'm fan of the alternative/indie/progressive rock-scene but I have a soft spot for blues-based rock as well and the Vox fits that sound better than any other amps I've had to date. I don't think it's entirely the complete tone I yearn for, but I'm hard to satisfy and will probably keep trying stuff.
I've had about a half dozen amps, some tube, some solid state over the last year or so, everything from 30 year old all valve heads to modern solid state amps with "trans-tube/vavletronix/valvestate" or whatever they want to dub tube-modelling enhancements. I find I keep coming back to these smaller amps as they can get the overdriven/distorted tones I like at lower volumes then other amps.
What I like about the Vox Pathfinder 10 is that nowhere on the amp packaging or manual does it allude to having a "tube-like" sound, a refreshing fact in itself, yet it sounds more vintage then many of the other amps I've used. I really like the simplicity, yet variability of this amp and the fact it is such a "sleeper".
I bought this on a spur-of-the-moment decision after I got sick of trying to coax a tone I liked out of my Ashton 40w solid state combo or my monster Gunn 50 tube head and singl-12" cab at lower volumes (great clean tone, but rubbish unless you crank the volume to full - which unfortunately everyone in my entire town can hear and be irritated by), a decision I'm very happy with. Ideally, I'd like to own a medium-sized tube-combo like a Peavey Classic 30 or 50, Fender Hot Rod Deville or Twin or ideally, a Marshall JCM 900 (I'm a sucker for the Marshall rock tone) but for the time being, this baby will do me fine. I need a new guitar before an amp anyway.
If it were stolen, I'd be upset, consider buying another but look into tube practise amps instead - Peavey Classic 20 or Kustom 12A spring to mine.
You can buy these things new for about $300 here in New Zealand, but I paid a third of that and I see them online for sale around that price fairly often, if you can get one cheap, you'll respect it despite any reservations about what style you play. I've gotten jazz/blues, classic rock, hard rock, grunge/punk and even a bit of metal out of this baby in just a few hours of playing with it and that should give you an indication on how good this amp is.

This little guy sounds fantastic. I've been playing my fat strat and epi casino through it and both sound great. The clean setting shines, it's so clear and full, and the distortion is great also. It can get real loud and hold its tone all the way through.

just another pathfinder in the housing of an orange, this is definitly
not true. Those little ams are totally different. Try, if you have the

Purchased from yer buddies at zzounds in June '03, so I assume it's fresh. Not a lot of knobs to fool with, but this unit proves less is more. Plenty loud for its size. Unless you're a munchkin, you'll need to turn it on end to sit down on it. Hmmm. Nice bass. Feels good! But I digress. Headphone jack doubles as line out, altho it's pretty hot for that purpose. Gain switch really jacks the volume, so you have to start all over with the other settings. Too bad the gain knob can't reside next to the volume knob because you'll seldom want to tweek one without adjusting the other. (My dream amp would have a pair of gears to decrease volume as I crank the gain.)

Using an American Strat and an Epiphone (Korean) Tele upgraded with U.S. Tele pickups. Like other, larger Voxes I have owned (Cambridge 15 and 30, T25 bass), this baby has incredible variety of tones available, responding distinctly to every change in the pickup switch or tone knobs. Definitely has the Brit sound, which I've come to define as strong bass, not much midrange and glassy treble -- pretty much the opposite of my Fender tube amps (Blues Jr.; '82 Champ reissue). Generally, very quiet on all settings, with little hum. With gain switch off, you can turn it up all the way in a small practice room and it sounds great. To keep the same volume with gain switch on, you need to roll back the gain and volume knobs to about a third or less. Low gain has a convincing Vox tube sound (as good or better as the larger Cambridge, which has (had?) a tube pre-amp. Hi gain is metal enuff for me. And if I need real volume, a patch from the Pathfinder line out to the input on my Vox T25 bass amp doubles my pleasure while maintaining the same tones. Sweet. Portable. Affordable.

From such a little amp i was really surprised!
All my amps are tube and i wanted a small solid state job for practice when i couldn't turn the other amps up to their potential. That being said i had a rough idea of what to expect.
The clean channel is good, can dial up a fair range of sounds but really would have liked a mid control as mucking around with a boss GE-7 in front of this amp gave me some quite good tones compared to what the standard eq could dish out.
Dirty channel isn't the best but can be used with a booster pedal or just a dist pedal on the clean channel
Also, as a previous reviewer stated about adding a mono switching jack to be able to connect to an ext speaker ... i mounted one in & was able to drive a marshall 4x12 with ease (on the 8ohm setting of course) now i can use amp as a little 10 watter head! It's very easy to do!!!

Yeah, that's what it's all about and believe me: it's absolutely amazing. If someone had blindfolded me and put me to some kind of a test, I would never have guessed that the sound came from this little bastard! It produces body and bass that seems to be impossible from a speaker that's so small! When you use it in clean mode and turn up the gain more than halfway, it almost sounds like a tube-amp. And it's not only the quality of the sound, but also the quantity. Man, this thing is said to be 10 watts only, but it's 10 watts like they used to talk about 10 watts in the fifties. It's LOUD!!!! Also it's very versatile. You can produce anything from superclean to really disgusting overdrive. I use it on a Telecaster and on the new Ibanez AF75BS and both sound great on it. The sound just never gets thin. I've compared this amp with several other small amps and there is a big distance in quality between this one and others, no matter what's the price. Finish is very good too.

Every guitar-player in the world and certainly every guitar-playing Beatle-freak: go out and buy it. The quality is really unbeatable for this price and besides that, it looks great. I found myself constanly looking at it, when I played all those beautiful Beatle-songs. Just dreaming away and pretending to be a bit of a Beatle myself!

and this little sucker sounds pristine at low to mid volumes..I played it through a dan electro single pickup and poeple couldnt belive that sound was coming from this amp...if you live in a small apt or have space constraints and you need a small amp to sound good for your recordings..this cant be beat! rich, clean tone! not so impressive in the overdrive dept but I bought it for the "vox" clean sound and it sounds like a class a tube amp on low volumes (well close anyway :)
for 79 bucks its a steal fact.. i went in ready to spend 250 and I ended likng the sound out of this little sucker..its a diamond in the rough..despite korean made..their tech guys had a good day when they made the tones for this guy...good job voxmen
Sound Quality: 10
as I mentioned above amazing rich clean full bodied tone at low to mid volumes an exc tool for recording! sounds as good as any amp I've heard
at low to mid volumes...if your a rocker looking for big overdrive commense would say..buddy you gotta go more than 10-15 watts
but want that nashville clean ,tom petty ,bob dylan, wallflowers sound this little sucker will capture it on tape in a studio envirnoment! way to weak for real on stage use when a drummer is pounding away..but exc for mid volume rehearslas when the drumer isnt particularly taking his frustrtions out on the drums :)
Reliability: 8
brand new ..looks pretty well built! i woulndt worry..but hey 79 bucks..if it busted id buy another one..heres a thought 4 of these running quadraphonic stereo :) better than an ac-30 :)

This is a very simple Korean-built 10-watt solid state amp with Volume, Treble, Bass, Gain and Volume knobs, and a pushbutton for additional gain. It also has one guitar input and a 1/4" jack for headphones or line recording. The 6 1/2" speaker is Vox-branded. I kinda wish it was battery operated for even more portability. It is a great bedroom amp. Vox hasn't cut any corners with the cosmetics. It looks like a baby AC30, with the vintage brown diamond grille cloth, basketweave tolex, chicken head knobs, gold fascia strip, and white piping, just like its big brother.
Sound Quality: 7
For such a little amp, it sounds surprisingly rich! I figured it would be on the tinny side, but it actually sounds excellent for what it is. The Pathfinder 10 does a good job of approximating the classic Vox chime in a very small package. The Gain setting sounds like crap - too harsh and garbled - but the Clean setting is great. It can get pretty loud - not quite powerful enough to go against a drummer, but nice for living room sessions. I keep the Distortion switched off and the Gain knob almost dimed, and control the volume with the Volume knob. As long as you keep it from clipping, it sounds really nice.

I've only had it a few weeks, but it seems to be well-made.

I have never heard anything bad about Vox/Korg's customer service. Vox Vice President Mitch Colby makes himself available on BBS boards like www.voxtalks.com.

I have owned in the past several other Vox amps, including a '65 AC50 head. The Pathfinder 10 does a pretty good approximation of the famous Vox sound. I bought it because 1.) I needed something I could use with headphones late at night, and 2.) it looks so COOL! I was also impressed by the sound of the Pathfinder 15 I played in store, and hoped this one would be similarly good. (It is!) My guitars are a 1962 Gretsch Tennessean, 1984 Rickenbacker 330, 1966 Rickenbacker 330/12, and a new fender Japan '62 reissue Tele.

This review is for the Vox Pathfinder 10...you know what it has is you read the previous entries...all sound pumped through a 6" speaker. Too bad the cabinet couldn't hold an 8" speaker. Portable, and easy to carry.
Sound Quality: 8
Clean sounds are good with a Mexi strat and Dano U2, you can really get some full sound for practice and low-level jamming with both tones set in the middle. The distortion/gain is alright, but don't dime the gain and the volume...too muddy.
Clean - 9
Gain (low) - 7
BUT...IT CAN RUN A MARSHALL 4x10 CAB! I wired an extension cab jack in the chassis(disconnects the internal 6" speaker)to get some more full sound, and I was AMAZED how much fuller the sound was..clean tones rang, and the gain channel actually sounded crunchier. At full volume through the Marshall cab, it's waaaay lound enough to play along with a light drummer, and a bass player. IF YOU CAN USE A SOLDERING IRON?, DO THIS MOD! Just get a mono switching jack...this cracks up people when they see this "mini stack."
Reliability: 10
It has fallen off shelves, other amps, and been dropped. It has been banged in and out of doorways, and still works fine.

Haven't dealt with them yet...

For the price, it's a fun amp. With the extension jack mod, it serves as a backup when the tubes run out...alot better amp for the money than what Crate, Marshall, etc. has to offer.

newer, vox pathfinder solid state amp with tremelo.
Sound Quality: N/A
Any amp can get a good sound, but this one is pretty limited. THe distortion sucks. the clean sound is okay, it breaks up pretty easily. overall, the sound is just barely ok, nothing good on average. the tremelo sounds like crap. i don't know what's wrong with it, it's like when the volume turns down the bass turns up, so it doesn't sound like a regular tremelo.
Reliability: N/A
not very reliable. the tremelo stopped working on me. otherwise, everything was fine.

didn't try it.

buy something else. unless you can get it cheap. for amps this size, it doesn't matter what you get unless you plan to record or something.
The best practice amp ever made is a fender bronco-trust me, it sounds amazing. or it did.

This is a 2002 Vox Pathfinder 15 watt 1 by 10 combo. This little practice amp is great for all types of music--blues, rock, jazz, etc. It has built in tremelo and a gain channel, which are both footswitchable. It also has a line out, headphone jack, auxillary speaker out. The headphone jack is especially nice for practicing late at night. This amp has plenty of power for practicing, but not enough to keep up with a drummer. It's clean tone is as good as I've heard on a non-tube amp this size. So great for practicing and recording. I give it a 9 instead of a 10 because it didn't come with the footswitch (why would they make such a great amp and not include a footswitch--that's absolutely ridiculous).
Sound Quality: 9
Like I said earlier, this amp will do just about any style well if played clean; the gain channel is a bit muddy. The tremelo is great also. Even on the clean channel, you can manipulate how much gain you get by adjusting the volume and master volume controls. I highly reccommend this amp for practice and recording, but I've even seen them being used in small venues (miked, of course). I'd give it a 10 if it had a better gain channel, but since clean is much more important to me, it gets a 9 for sound.
Reliability: 9
I've used it for several months now, and haven't had any problems. Others who've had them longer haven't complained of any problems either, so based on what I know, this amp will last a long, long time. But only time will tell.

Haven't dealt directly with Vox.

I've been playing for about 15 years and if it were lost or stolen, I'd definately get another one fast. I tried other practice amps, Fender, Marshall, and others, and none compared. I'm convinced this is the best practice amp for the money, maybe the best amp period for the money.

i got the amp brand new from zzounds.com b/c that was the best deal
i could find on it. $90.90 us dollars (that included the 2 day delivery i payed a little extra for). i was looking for an amp for
nice clean electric tones at a decent volume for practice, recording, and possibly even playing live (mic'd up. or running the out on the amp to the board). i found what i was looking for in this amp. has
more than i need actually b/c i could live without the 'overdrive' channel. controls are: gain, overdrive/clean button, bass, treble, volume, power. standard 1/4 guitar input. 1/4 headphone/line out.
10 watts. solid state. plenty loud enough for me.
Sound Quality: 9
i'm using a danelectro 56u2 reissue (semi-hollowbody with lipstick single coil pickups) with this amp. i bought this amp for the clean
sounds and i *love* the clean sounds. very crisp and clear, and CLEAN like they're supposed to be. works great for me. i usually
keep the bass and treble halfway up, volume on 10, and from there
just adjust the gain to various levels.
i can get a nice slightly overdriven sound by pushing in the overdrive button and keeping volume and gain both really low. i won't
comment any further on that b/c overdrive and distortion aren't my things. i'm all about clean sounds if you can't tell already.

it seems well built and like it will last with proper care.

if this were lost or stolen i'm pretty sure i'd get this same amp.
if not this particular model then another vox. i'm hooked on vox now.
i love the clean sounds i get from it, the small size, light weight,
and i REALLY like the way this amp looks too. very cool! i did quite
a bit of research trying to find the amp with the features i wanted,
and this is it. if i could change anything about it, it wouldn't have the overdrive channel and instead of gain and volume, just one control to adjust the level. i like simplicity. other than that, i'd
keep it the same. great amp, and less than $100! what a deal!

I didn't end up buying one, so I dont exactly remember except to say it was very simple and very small. Has enough knobs to do it's job.
Sound Quality: 9
Played my G&L ASAT through it and got REALLY pleasant clean tones and some thin distortion I would never use anyway. SUPRISINGLY good clean sounds. I could not believe I was playing through an $80 amp! Yes, it sounded small... but it also sounded great. It was not meant to compete with a 4x12. It sounds good enough that I was trying to decide between this amp an a $300 all-tube Fender Pro Junior. I went for the real tubes in the Fender but was mighty impressed by this tiny amp.

Does look kinda cheap, but otherwise I have no info on which to comment.

Probably more helpful than Fender.

I have been playing for 15 years and I would recommend this amp to anyone just starting to play or looking for a tiny amp for picking on the porch or traveling. I was impressed enough to write a review for a product I didnt buy. Enough said. I might still buy one someday. For 80 bones... you can't go wrong. I think Vox makes the best small, affordable amps on the market with better build quality than Fender.

I don't know what year it was built, but it's pretty young I suppose... It has a lot of feature for a amp of this size, you can hook up a pedal for the boost. I bought it last week because of the many positive reviews right here; I don't regret it at all!!! It's ideal as practice amp, but it was used for a gig, a jamsession, and wow, it does the job without a moan! All the guitarist were surprised of it!!!

It was played with a Höfner from the 60-ties, and it sounded amazingly well (and loud!) all the guitarist at this jamsession looked at it and liked the looks, but

Well. It sounds great, and what features do you expect for a 79$$$ amp.
the pathfinder 15 had a tremolo, but I was not into it, so I am happy they did not bother with it on this one.
the gain and overdrive sound really good, and the treble bass knobs work well and are not too harsh. so I think for the price you get plenty. Still they are minimal.

incredible. again the best sounding amp in this price range. wide range, and good clean sounds that break up a little bit with my telecasters lead pickup. and very loud but clear sounds.
Reliability: 10
I don't think I will have any problems with this amp. It is too simple. and I opened it up and it is laid out in a fixer friendly manner... nothing is in anythings way. and the chassi comes out easy. might be fun to modify one of these if you are into that sort of thing.

I have been playing for about ten years, I use fender guitars (telecaster mustang, coronado xii) and a danelectro tremolo pedal sometimes...
I think this amp will be perfect for rehersing with my new small band.
and I am excited to use it in the studio since it runs really quiet (except when in overdrive) and will make great clear recordings. If you want an amp you can carry to practice or the studio and not break your arm, and you want some great sounds with out toooo much volume, give it a try for 79$. Well worth the money.

The Pathfinder 10 is a new addition to the Vox line, announced originally at the 2001 Summer NAMM, but, as of the date of this review, only now arriving in stores. It is a s/s amp rated at 10 watts with a 'custom designed' 6 1/2" speaker, which carries the 'Vox' logo. Panel controls are Gain, Gain Boost Switch, Treble, Bass, and Volume, plus a 1/4" Headphone/Line Out jack. Utilizing this jack mutes the internal speaker. No reverb, tremolo, or footswitch options are provided.
Sound Quality: 7
I already own a Vox Vavletronix AD120 and a Cambridge 30 Reverb Twin, so I ordered this more out of curiosity than a real 'need' for another amp, intending to use it as an easy carry-around (you can literally carry it with one finger) from room to room. The first guitar I plugged into it was my 'strat' single coil. The sound which resulted was pretty much what I expected from the amp... very clean and crisp, but not much in the way of 'body'. The distortion was... well... distorted (which is to say it sounded like a tiny solid state amp)! Ok... so I went in and got my semi-hollow humbucker guitar... plugged it in... and could not believe what I was hearing! The sound filled out and was so big and rich, it sounded VERY much like the Cambridge 30 Twin 'clean channel'... but, of course, at a lower volume level. The distortion and 'Gain Boost', while certainly not 'tube-like' (these words are refreshingly absent from any Vox literature about the Pathfinder 10, by the way!) was very usable. The volume that this little box generates is also quite impressive... being sufficient for low-level practices with a band, or even for gigging in a small room backing up an acoustic group or small jazz combo. Jazz players should love this amp, as it is inconspicuous and produces wonderful clean, mellow tones at a reasonable volume. ANYONE who is just taking up guitar would do well to make this their first amp, as the tone is satisfying enough to encourage practice and progression. It certainly does perform much better with humbucker pickups, so it gets two numbers here: Single Coils-5 Humbuckers-8

My AD120 is a superb masterpiece with all the bells and whistles and everything I would ever need for gigging. My Cambridge 30 Reverb Twin is an excellent sounding utilitarian amp, easy to transport for rehearsals and light gigs. But... the Pathfinder 10 has a certain 'fun' factor to it that is hard to describe. It's kind of like being transported back to when I was learning to play, and played through any old thing that would convert electrical signals into sound. The primal simplicity of it is very appealing. But the Pathfinder 10 goes beyond that, and actually produces very usable tones! What started out as a curiosity will now get quite a lot of use, both in and out of the home! If you are just beginning to play, or need to supplement your collection of 80lb. amps with something a lot more portable and fun... try the Pathfinder 10... for $80 you can't go wrong!
