S6 DLX made in about 1992, Solid Cedar top, LR Baggs preamp in original config. Electronics have been modified, now has EMG preamp (installed at the Lowden factory) but kept the Baggs saddle pickup... I have always loved the sound of this guitar and would pick it over many more expensive guitars. also have installed a small electret condenser (omni) designed as lapel mike that has it's own separate output in a mini-jack. It sounds strong and great and even though it only runs on a watch battery, the mids and highs are rich and woody. I have positioned it just inside the hole pointing up directly at the b string. The best overall onstage or recording sound is to use the mic to the mains PA only or to the studio system to be recorded on aseparate track and blended later. The stereo effect of Left/Right as pickup/mike is wonderful. The mike cost 29.95 at the Rat Shack! What are we not being told here? I love my Seagull and will play it onstage and studio til I wear it out, then I'll try to find a used one from same year or that has same sound.

I run this through a DI and various configs of Quadraverb (I custom wrote some programs to make a transducer sound more natural), monitors and or amplification. It can tend to be a tiny bit too glassy bright if I turn the treble up full, but I find that I don't unless i want more detail to a fingerpicking pattern. Style? this confuses me. I play all sorts I guess, with various degrees of gentleness and aggression on the guitar. Wide dynamic range.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action stays good considering I have tortured this guitar with constant gigging and travel and weather extremes for 7 years.
Reliability/Durability

Finish on Top is great for sound, but not very durable and has had to be laquerd again to prevent it getting tore up.

Had great difficulty getting original preamp replaced under warranty (I finally gave up)because Seagull did not stock the old preamp anymore even only 3 years after they were selling them, thus I had to adapt and the guys at Lowden in Ireland were kind enough to sort me out with EMG.

I have played all my life, over 35 years. This instrument is the sweetest acoustic I have ever played besides an early handmade Lowden.
