Audio-Technica Releases New Artist Series Mics January 1, 1997Audio-Technica announces two new microphones:
ATM87R Hi-SPL Boundary Microphone
Designed to excel in kick-drum applications, the ATM87R is a unidirectional condenser microphone similar in appearance to Audio-Technica's AT871R boundary mic. The ATM87R features a low-profile design for minimum visibility, and may be placed in a variety of locations, either in or near a kick drum, to produce a range of desirable timbres. Powered via an external 9-52V DC source, the microphone's ultra-high SPL capability and flat response make this an outstanding microphone for both the studio and stage.
ATM89R Handheld Condenser Microphone
The new ATM89R provides smooth, accurate vocal reproduction for studio-quality sound in a live setting. Supplied as a hypercardioid, the ATM89R's interchangeable element design allows the mic to also offer a number of other polar patterns, including cardioid, subcardioid and omnidirectional. The ATM89R's high sensitivity and SPL capability assure excellent performance under all miking conditions, providing distortion-free output even in very intense sound fields. Special internal shock mounting eliminates virtually all handling and cable noise, while the microphone's rugged build makes it a perfect choice for musicians on the road.
