Audio-Technica Releases Pro Series VHF Wireless and Permanent Install Mics

January 1, 1997

Audio-Technica is dramatically expanding its cost-effective Pro Series product line with the addition of new VHF wireless systems and the new ProPoint(TM) Preappoint family of permanent install microphones.

The new Pro Series wireless line is comprised of the PRO 227 guitar system, the PRO 227H headworn microphone system, the PRO 227L lavalier microphone system and the PRO 228 handheld microphone system. All four systems feature true diversity design with two independent RF sections for superior reception, and a selection of 20 VHF frequencies for minimum interference. They provide a minimum operating range of 200 feet, and a frequency stability of +/-0.005 percent. Full FM deviation improves the signal-to-noise ratio for greater headroom and dynamic range.

A ground-lift switch on the PRO-R2 receiver, used in all four systems, solves hum problems when ground loops are encountered in the field, while an adjustable squelch control eliminates unwanted background RF noise. Offering both balanced (XLR-type) and unbalanced (l/4-inch phone jack) audio outputs, the rugged receiver with all-metal case mounts in a standard 1U 19-inch equipment rack using included brackets.

Dual-power battery-save switches on all transmitters may be set "high" for maximum range or "low" for extended battery life. The UniPak(TM) transmitter, used in the PRO 227, PRO 227H and PRO 227L models, features a professional HRS connector and includes a Super Hi-Z input that provides an optimum load for guitar pickups. The handheld microphone/transmitter in the PRO 228 system utilizes a Hi-ENERGY. dynamic element with superior internal shock mounting.

Audio-Technica's new ProPoint(TM) series of cardioid condenser microphones for the contractor comprises the PRO 42 miniature boundary mic, PRO 44 boundary mic, PRO 45 remote-powered hanging mic, PRO 47T and PRO 47TL thread-mount gooseneck mics and PRO 49Q and PRO 49QL quick-mount gooseneck mics.

Attractively priced for dealers and distributors, all models in the ProPoint(TM) line feature self-contained electronics, eliminating the need for external power modules. Operating on 9-52V DC power, each microphone offers a flat, smooth frequency response with wide dynamic range and high-SPL handling to accommodate everything from speakers to choirs to orchestras. The gooseneck models feature quiet, fixed-placement, long-life goosenecks, while the hanging PRO 45 is an excellent choice for stage, choir or other area miking.
