Q Connect Launches Starmaker Music Challenge October 1, 1997
Today Q Connect, the online version of Q magazine, launched their exciting
new music challenge STARMAKER, which allows unsigned bands and musicians a
chance to make their music available to a wider audience as well as compete
against other bands with the winner taking away £500 worth of professional
music equipment.
From 29th September to 14th November we are asking unsigned bands or
musicians to submit a recording, on CD, tape or digitally, of themselves
either through the CompuServe library, email or by post. These entries
should be accompanied, where possible, with pictures and a biography of the
band and some information about the track.
Entries will be put up on the web site, as we receive them, and users of
the Q Connect web site will be able to listen to the tracks, view pictures
and read up on each band.
During the week of 17th - 23rd November visitors to Q Connect will be able to
vote for their favourite track or artist. Once the voting has closed the
top three most voted for tracks will go forward to the final, which will be
judged by our specialist panel, which includes David Davies, Editor of Q
and Jon Walsh, Head of A&R at MCA Records.
On 4th December the winner will be presented with their award, and prize,
at an exclusive ceremony at Web Shack, the Internet cafe in Soho, London.
The ceremony will then be broadcasted on Q Connect's web site. For more information, visit their web site at www.qonline.co.uk. |
