Sunhawk Corporation has published the first interactive edition of
Handel's Messiah in a CD-ROM including four scores: choral, orchestral,
autograph and a coveted 1767 printed version. With an estimated eight copies available in special
collections across the country, this represents the first time the historic score has been readily
available to music lovers. The innovative blend of historic and interactive scores represents one of
the most comprehensive collections to date. Music lovers can also download sections of Messiah
(choral and orchestral scores only) from Sunhawk's growing Intemet catalog.
"Innovative SOLERO(TM) technology makes it possible for us to create an interactive version that
allows musicians to play or sing-a-long with the work," says Marlin Eller, chairman, Sunhawk
Corporation. "I am very excited about our limited-edition Messiah CD-ROM release, which would not be
possible without the cooperation of the librarians at Sibley Library, at the Eastman School of
Music."
Professor Kenneth Nott of the University of Hartford, takes music lovers on a legendary musical
voyage to learn about early performances of Messiah. "I believe that choir and music directors will
discover that Sunhawk's CD-ROM is an invaluable educational tool and performance resource," says
Nott. "This extraordinary collection of scores, representing more than 1,300 pages by this
prolific composer will enhance the enjoyment of music lovers worldwide."
The Messiah CD-ROM features technology that allows music lovers to play and print engraving-quality
scores using their home computers. Users can change note color, page layout, tempo and choose from
175 different instruments during playback. They can also turn off parts and
sing or play along with the karaoke-like performance.
The CD-ROM requires 16MB RAM, 3 MB free hard-disk space, a MIDI sound card, Pentium processor,
