iMusic, World Domination to Release CD of Internet BroadcastsPost-Hype Seattle Scene Thrives On Northwest Live Compilation. August 19, 1997
iMusic and World Domination Recordings today
announced the release of LIVE AT MOE, the first music CD of material
originally broadcast live on the Internet. The popular iMusic website
(http://imusic.com) produced over 500 nightly "cyber-cast" performances from
the venerable Seattle night spot until Club MOE's recent retirement. LIVE
AT MOE captures talent from the Pacific Northwest region in the act of
making MOE the hub of the celebrated post-grunge Seattle scene.
The bands featured on LIVE AT MOE run the gamut from global glory to
hard-working locals. THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
contribute the opening cut, plus a parting comment on Soundgarden's
Spoonman. They're joined by recent graduates to major label status POND,
GUS and Sky Cries Mary's RODERICK ROMERO & TRANSISTOR RHYTHM. SILKWORM,
CRITTERS BUGGIN', MARC OLSEN (late of Sage), JESSAMINE and LAUNDRY represent
the cream of the Northwest indie label crop. The roster rounds out with
GOODNESS, GRUNTRUCK, SYCOPHANT and HYPERLUNG -- stalwarts of the West Coast
tour circuit. Result: LIVE AT MOE, a proper memento of the Seattle scene,
1996-97.
Moe's Mo'Roc'N Cafe was for years the center of a music community made
infamous by a handful of local-bands-made-good. On any given night MOE was
a musical incubator with established talent mixing it up with their friends
and neighbors -- sitting in on side projects, trying some new material or
just hanging in the bar -- multi-platinum pressing against virgin vinyl.
LIVE AT MOE is a taste of that time, the post-hype Seattle scene in all its
delicious glory.
LIVE AT MOE also includes one-month free trial Internet access, including an
e-mail account and a personal Web site, courtesy of SPRYNET, CompuServe's
Internet division. SPRYNET also provided the technology support enabling
the worldwide success of the original Internet broadcasts.
LIVE AT MOE, commercially available starting September 23, 1997 at local
music dealers and on-line through iMusic. For more information, visit their web site at www.imusic.com. |
