DrumFrame LTD. Announces New Drum Mounting Systems

The V.2 The V.2L
The Rocket
December 2, 1998 The Connecticut-based DrumFrame LTD (www.drumframe.com) announces the addition of three new products to its line of ergonomic drum mounting systems. The DrumFrame is a device that enables drummers to mount their drumset in a reclined position, greatly reducing upper-body and back fatigue, while taking up less room than a traditional drumkit.

The V.2 replaces last year's V.1, and allows for the mounting of any acoustic or electronic drumset, using DrumFrame's FrameWork rack system or the drummer's own hardware. V.2 adds the following features: a swivel seat, permitting easier access to lateral portions of the kit as well as a more natural feel; a redesigned snare drum mount, providing greater stability and positioning options; and lighter weight (by 10%).

The V.2L includes a scaled-down FrameWork rack system with the signature "S"-tube and two front crossbars. It is an even lighter-weight version of the V.2 (15% less than the V.1), with a key distinction. The bass drum, rather than being held by a cradle from below, is suspended from above by the FrameWork, and stabilized at two points underneath by a small brace that attaches to any bass drum pedal. This mounting system allows the bass drum to be set up in the optimum playing position for each drummer, with height, angle of attack, and lateral placement individually adjustable. The hi-hat stand also attaches to the FrameWork. This allows the cymbals to be tilted towards the drummer.

The Rocket is a V.2L that allows for the mounting of a compact electronic percussion set, taking advantage of the DrumFrame's ergonomic benefits in an even smaller footprint due to its unique wing. Pedals attach directly to the wing unit with hook-and-loop fasteners, and a multi-pad controller (e.g., drumKat, Roland Octapad or SPD-series) mounts to the snare drum holder. Additional pads, acoustic cymbals, or other percussion are added via the two small FrameWork arms that span the front of the Rocket.

These additions to the DrumFrame line are expected to ship by the first of the year.
