Music Resource Group Introduces The Musician's AtlasProfessional resource directory created for the independent music community and working musicians December 12, 1998
Music Resource Group has announced the availability of a new directory created specifically for the independent music community, working musicians and everyone in the industry charged with developing new artists.
The Musician's Atlas expands the parameters of subject-specific industry directories by compiling thousands of listings in more than 25 categories. Information included is both qualified and current.
The 320-page directory features clubs, radio stations, studios, press, record retail sections divided by state and further subdivided into regional markets within each state.
Other categories include: record label a&r contacts, producers, managers, booking agents, tape/disc manufacturers, distributors, showcases, publishers, radio promotion companies, publicists, graphic designers, photographers, merchandising companies, websites, entertainment lawyers, associations, gear manufacturers and schools.
Entries include business and contact names, phone and fax numbers, e-mail and website addresses, styles of music preferred and information on whether or not they'll accept unsolicited demos and recordings for consideration.
The Musician's Atlas also features interviews with ten artists and producers who embrace an independent spirit within the music industry. Featured artists include: Loreena McKennit, Jonathan Davis of Korn, John Medeski, Martin Sexton, Kieran Kane, U-God of Wu-Tang Clan and others.
"The entire Atlas is aimed at demystifying the music industry by providing useful information that makes it possible for developing artists to negotiate a clear cut career path," said Martin Folkman, editor of The Musician's Atlas. "Our goal is to empower musicians who recognize the importance of setting the wheels in motion."
