Sonic Foundry (AMEX: SFO), a developer and marketer of media authoring tools for Windows, today announced the release of Version 2.0 of its ACID Music and ACID PRO loop-based music production tools. These updated editions both feature one-touch CD burning that allows users to create professional-quality CDs in just minutes, and support saving files to MP3, RealMedia G2, and Windows Media formats.

ACID Music 2.0 includes new effects including Reverb, Chorus, Delay, and EQ, while the award-winning ACID PRO has been enhanced with the inclusion of Sonic Foundry’s XFX 1 DirectX audio plug-ins. Version 2.0 of ACID PRO also includes Sound ForgeXP 4.5, a powerful digital audio editor that allows users to make and edit loops, synchronize audio to video, convert file formats, and develop interactive Web content. In addition, both ACID Music and ACID PRO users can now share their musical creations with the Internet community via Sonic Foundry’s ACID Planet (www.acidplanet.com), a one-of-a-kind Web site that allows any ACID user to self-publish music online.

Both ACID Music and ACID PRO support unlimited tracks and are delivered with hundreds of royalty-free sound clips (loops). Users simply select loops directly from the explorer window, drag them onto the program’s track view, and then arrange them into multiple-track projects. The easy to use software automatically adjusts the key and tempo of incoming loops to ensure musical compatibility and continuity. The ACID Music and ACID PRO programs allow users to control the volume, pan, and effects for each track to create a perfect mix between loops.

“With support for the MP3, G2, and WMA formats and our CD burning functionality, ACID Music 2.0 and ACID PRO 2.0 now provide musicians with the ability to more easily share their musical creations,” said Rimas Buinevicius, Chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry. “By adding new effects to both packages, and including Sound Forge XP as part of ACID PRO, we’ve once again demonstrated our commitment to continually add value to the ACID platform.”

Both ACID Music 2.0 and ACID PRO 2.0 require a Pentium 133 microprocessor (for real-time effects, a Pentium II processor is recommended), Microsoft Windows 95/98, NT 4.0 or later, a Windows-compatible sound card, VGA display, CD-ROM drive, 32MB of RAM, and 5MB of hard-drive space for program installation.

ACID Music 2.0 sells for a suggested retail price of $99.95, and ACID PRO is priced at $399.00. Both products are currently available for purchase by resellers through national computer products distributors. End-users can purchase them directly from Sonic Foundry or a wide variety of computer and music retailers nationwide.
