Responding to demand for 24-bit performance in professional and semi-professional
audio recording environments, Swissonic has started shipping a pair of low-cost,
24-bit ADAT compatible 8-channel A/D and D/A interfaces, the AD24 and DA24.
The combination of an AD24 and DA24 with an ADAT compatible PCI sound cards
(Korg Soundlink, SEK'D Prodif Plus and Pro, Alesis ADAT Card, Sonorus StudI/O,
MOTU 2408 Audio System and many others) offers a professional, flexible and high
quality PC/Mac based multi-track recording system.
Both units provide an outstanding sound quality to meet the requirements of
today's professional digital audio equipment. The AD24 features 117 dB dynamic
range at >103 dB THD+N. The DA24 features 106 dB dynamic range at a 115 signal-to-noise
ration (EIAJ) and -97 dB THD+N, using an inherently linear 1-bit delta sigma DAC.
The level of the balanced XLR inputs and outputs is internally switchable
between -10dB and +4dB for a perfect integration into professional or semi professional
environments. The units provide Wordclock inputs and outputs and ADAT light-pipe
optical inputs and outputs to connect to ADAT machines or to ADAT compatible PCI
sound cards or mixing consoles.
Because of the superior characteristics of the fiber optical signal transmission
to the ADAT compatible hardware components, the units prevent ground loop problems
sometimes experienced with sound cards mounted in improperly grounded PCs. A 12
ft / 4 m optical fiber cable is included with each AD24 and DA24.
Both units are built in half rack cases and can either be used on the desktop
or be mounted side by side on a 19" rack mount adapter to fit into a single
rack space.
