New ZOOM Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal
May 27, 1999
ZOOM has introduced their GFX707 multi-effects pedal for guitarists
that adds some new features over their popular 505 pedal. For starters, an expression
pedal that can control volume, wah, and other effects parameters is built-in.
The GFX707 also includes a built-in drum machine with 46 PCM based rhythm patterns
in various styles. You can even layer your own guitar parts (or external audio
sources) using the internal six-second sampler. The Jam Play feature allows you
to record two seconds of a phrase and then use the expression pedal to control
the playback speed and direction, or "scratch" like a DJ.
Up
to nine effects can be used at once, drawing from a list of close to 100 effects
and variations including, compression, distortion (fuzz, overdrive, etc.), phasing,
flanging, chorus, delay, tremolo, vibrato, reverb, ring modulator, slow attack,
filter, wah, auto-wah, auto-pan, pitch shifting, EQ, and acoustic simulator. Amp
simulation is included as well, and real-time adjustment of effects can be accomplished
with the rotary knobs.
Memory for 60 presets (30 user and 30 factory) is offered, and the GFX707 can
be powered by four AA batteries or an optional AC adapter.
