Mixman Technologies Inc. announced today the debut of Mixman® Studio Mac, the company's first product for the MacOS platform. Mixman Studio is a virtual DJ software environment that allows users to create or remix their own music, or remix the latest music from major label recording artists, using D*Plates(tm), Mixman's recently announced 'Internet singles'. In addition, Mixman Studio Mac allows users the opportunity to integrate Mixman Studio Mac with their MIDI environment, a capability not available on Mixman's Windows-based products. Mixman Studio for the Mac offers the ability to control Studio Mac from a MIDI device, MIDI sync (in/out), and the ability to run in background, enabling simultaneous use with a sequencer, where Studio Mac functions as a sound module for the sequencer.

"The professional music community has been all over us to bring Mixman Studio power to the Mac.," said Alexander Hoag, Sr. Vice President, Marketing & Operations. "Several major recording artists simply refused to use the software on a PC," Hoag added. "Apple's resurgent marketing and exciting designs have ignited a level of demand we simply could not ignore." User enthusiasm and the richness of the Macintosh architecture made it possible to design a richer feature set, resulting in MIDI features designed to integrate Mixman Studio with other professional audio gear typically found in serious musicians' studios."

"No computer encourages creative freedom and artistic inspiration like the Macintosh," said Clent Richardson, Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations of at Apple Computer Inc.. "Now, with the arrival of Mixman Studio Mac, artists and creative users can experience the simple thrill of performing remixing professional quality music without distracting complexity. We see this product filling needs in web design, presentation, and education as well as serving the dedicated professional music community."

Mixman will deliver Studio throughout the worldwide Macintosh channel. The company plans to work with all of Apple major distribution partners to bring Mixman Studio to stores by September 1999, with an estimated M.S.R.P. of $79.95.

Remixing is at the heart of global expansion of DJ culture: allowing musicians to creatively explore, shape and arrange sounds to alter the character of a composition or create entirely new works by combining original audio samples. DJs are a fixture on most major bands' tours, to add energy, diversity and power to an audio performance, adding, in effect, an additional musical instrument to performances.

Mixman Studio was designed to be a real-time performance instrument, simplifying the technical expertise required to remix professionally, and making remixing accessible to anyone with a passion or interest in music, while retaining professional audio quality. Mixman Studio's focus on powerful simplicity offers critical real-time music performance capabilities with 16 tracks of digital audio and unparalleled control over pitch, tempo and beat., enabling users to remix up to 16 tracks of digital audio, with unparalleled control over pitch and tempo. The remixing features of Mixman Studio allow musicians to creatively explore, shape and arrange digital audio to enhance a musical composition, or create entirely new works by combining audio. Any composition can then be exported into MP3, AIFF, Real Audio G2, and Mixman's high performance .trk files for use in virtually any application than can import sound.

Mixman supplies Soundiscs(tm), a series of professional quality multi-format sample discs, D*Plates(tm), remixable internet singles from major recording artists, and Mixman Enhanced CDs, available from major recording companies, all of which enable users to dramatically expand the creative range of the music made with Studio. Mixman users can publish their music on the Internet via Radio Mixman(r) at www.mixzone.com, Mixman's web radio station where users can post their music and review other users' state of the art remix music.
