Clavia Updates Nord Modular 3.0 Release Plans
May 29, 1999
Clavia announced the version 3.0 upgrade for the Nord Modular
platform back during MusikMesse, and has now revealed some more details on new
features that will be added. The biggest change? The 3.0 release of the OS and
editing software will be the first release to run both on a Windows PC or Macintosh
(PowerPC running MacOS 8.5 later will be required). The software for both platforms
is expected to be released sometime this Summer.
New features in V3.0
Two Patch Sections
Two sections of the patch are available: one where you place modules that
should be used for each voice, and one where you place modules that should be
global for all voices. All voices from the Voice section are then processed in
the Global section. For example, in the Voice section you could place oscillators,
filters and envelope generators. Patch the Voice section to the Global section
and use, for example, audio processors such as chorus, vocoder, compressor etc.
to process all voices.
Patches made in earlier software versions will be totally compatible with
V3.0. They will appear in the Voice section when uploaded or opened.
Increased Number of Modules Per Patch
The number of modules per patch is increased from 44 to 127 for the Voice part
and another 127 modules for the Global part.
Dynamic Patch Storage
The total number of patches that can be stored in the internal memory of
the synthesizer depends on their size.
Multi-Step Undo/Redo
You are able to Undo an Redo in several steps.
Live Knob Floater
You can change assigned patch parameters in real time from the knobs of the
Knob Floater window.
Multi-Synthesizer Support
With the V3.0 Editor you can control up to four different Nord Modulars/Micro
Modulars from one Editor.
Enhanced Graphical Interface
The graphical interface has been widely enhanced to make it even easier to
create and edit your patches. More cable colors, Morph group colors and a new
toolbar with lots of new functions has also been included.
Integrated Patch Browser
Now, it's much easier to browse and select patches from the internal memory and
from the computer hard disk.
