July 14, 1999Alvarez Acoustics has announced the release of two new guitars: The PD80-12
string and the AD65CE cutaway.
Similar to it's six-string first cousin, the PD80, the PD80-12 provides a select
solid spruce top with scalloped bracing, Mahogany sides and back, and an Abalone
sound hole ring. It comes complete with Rosewood fretboard, 12th fret diagonal,
and provides an optional System 500 MK II pre-amp/EQ. Features such as chrome
die cast tuners make tuning easier, plus cosmetic nuances like the Ivory/Herringbone
bound body make this guitar look and play stunningly.
Sister to the AD65, the AD65CE includes arched spruce top with F-Holes and
natural finish, maple sides and back, and Rosewood fretboard. Vintage features
such as "Waverly" style tuners, Ivory/Black multi body binding, and
nickel hardware help to capture a classic look and feel. On-board electronics
include Alnico "Dog Ear" neck pickup, Piezo bridge pickup, and stereo
output.
The philosophy and concepts of Alvarez Acoustics are based within those embodied
in the Yairi tradition. Alvarez guitars are subject to rigorous set-up and adjustment
procedures to ensure optimum sound and playability. The Alvarez Artist Series
offers a broad range of models crafted into uncommon beauty in pure acoustic and
electric/acoustic versions Plus, a limited lifetime warranty guarantees many years
