PreSonus Audio has announced the new VXP Single Channel Multi-featured
Microphone Processor, which provides a mic-pre, compressor, expander, de-esser,
semi-parametric EQ and peak limiter in a single rack space, blue anodized, milled
aluminum front panel and steel chassis.
The VXP Mic-Pre stems directly from the PreSonus MP20 & M80 multi-channel
Microphone Preamplifiers with a Jensen transformer with Class A discrete input
buffers, FET and Twin Servo Gain Staging. The VXP Compressor section is harvested
from our Blue Max preset compression technology. It provides 16 programmed compression
curves that cover a wide spectrum of gain reduction parameters. The VXP Expander
section provides noise reduction via downward expansion with variable control
over expansion threshold and ratio. The VXP De-Esser is variable from 800 Hz to
8kz. The VXP 4-Band Semi-Parametric Equalizer section includes Low/High Shelving,
Semi-Parametric Low Mid & High Mid, Narrow Q select and a High Pass Filter
for eliminating low frequency rumble. The VXP Master Output Section gives you
a Brick Wall Limiter. There are three separate 8-segment LED displays and two
4-segment LEDs. All function status indicators are via back-lit push buttons.
The VXP offers high headroom: +28dB maximum output level. THD<0.005%, signal
to noise at >96dB and a bandwidth from 20Hz to 40kHz.
Microphone input and output balanced XLR, TRS send & return jacks, plus
a separate TS output jack. The power transformer is an internal torodial that
is selectable for international use.
MSRP: US retail $699.00. The VXP is expected to ship in July, 1999.
