PRESS RELEASE

Amek Features Mr. Rupert Neve, The Designer, Surround at the 109th AES Convention, Los Angeles

August 18, 2000

Amek will be spotlighting the talents of Mr. Rupert Neve, the legendary audio equipment designer, at the upcoming 109th AES Convention, September 22-25, 2000 (Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth # 411). And in keeping with the theme of the event, 'Surrounded by Surround', many of the exhibited products are designed for multichannel production, including the Media 51 multiformat production console, the 9098i Super Console by Rupert Neve the Designer, and the Pure Path range of outboard signal processors. Amek's BB100 broadcast console will also be on display.

The Media 51 is the first entry-level multiformat console to incorporate the audio designs of Mr. Rupert Neve, and will be seen at an AES show for the first time in Los Angeles. Featuring a brand new mic preamp and EQ section designed by Mr. Neve, Media 51 is equipped as standard with Amek's Supertrue fader, switch, and event automation, Virtual Dynamics on every channel, and Recall of all channel parameters, with synchronization through SMPTE and MIDI.

Designed to meet the requirements of music production, broadcast, and post production in multiformat surround sound, Media 51 effortlessly handles panning and bussing for formats from four to eight channels wide, as well as stereo. Comprehensive monitor control functions include easy insertion of encode/decode processors, extensive downmixing capability, master Playback/Direct (PEC/Direct) switching, and multiple solo, cut, and metering modes.

The 9098i Master Recording Console by Mr. Rupert Neve the Designer is simply the ultimate analog mixing console. Featuring an audio bandwidth that is extended to 200kHz (-3dB), Virtual Class A operation throughout, and with every signal path balanced either by transformer or Mr. Rupert Neve's own Transformer-Like Amplifier (TLA), the 9098i sets a performance standard that is unlikely to be exceeded in the analog audio domain.

The 9098i incorporates powerful automation designed specifically for the console that has been developed from the popular, ubiquitous Supertrue system, and includes Recall, two motorized faders per channel, switch automation, integral dynamics with central control of parameters, and management of outboard MIDI equipment. The console is designed for multitrack production in a variety of multiformat modes, from stereo to 5.1.

The Pure Path range of processors, designed by Mr. Rupert Neve, comprises the Channel in a Box (CIB), Driver in a Box (DIB), and Stem Compressor. The CIB is a rack-mounting in-line console input comprising mic and line preamps, high and low pass filters, four band EQ and fully featured compressor. The DIB incorporates 16 transformer-coupled line drivers configured as eight channels, each with a switchable insert point, and is suitable for a variety of audio engineering tasks, including signal distribution. The Stem Compressor, designed to meet the demands of current multichannel surround production, offers eight channels of digitally controlled analog compression and limiting.

Amek's BB100 is a cost-effective fully featured small format audio mixing console designed primarily to deliver the performance expected by professional broadcasters. Available in configurations from 10 to 32 input channels, with four stereo or eight mono subgroups, and offering fully balanced input and output connections, the BB100 features four internal mix minus feeds as standard and is easily configurable for a variety of custom options through internal factory-set links.

Amek, a Harman International Company, is a British-based manufacturer of premium quality digital and analog mixing console systems and signal processors for the recording, post production, broadcast, and live sound markets.
