GMEDIA Technology plc, manufacturers of the award-winning Phat.Boy MIDI controller, have released a new VST plug-in based on the classic Mellotron keyboard instrument.

The M-Tron is the one of a new line of software releases under our new GForce brand. The M-Tron combines state of the art software technology with the highest quality content commented David Spiers, developer at GMEDIA. Our M-Tron VST plug-in is a very realistic simulation of the classic instrument which actually used looped-tapes to create remarkable, distinctive sounds. The M-Tron features 28 fantastic sound banks including strings, flutes, choirs, mandolins, accordions, vibes, brass and rhythms. The great combination of authentic, tape-based samples with the flexibility as a VST software plug-in allow musicians to add cult sounds to recordings.

M-Tron features Tone, Volume and Pitch controls plus new Attack and Decay envelope features. "The slightly odd-ball quality of the sounds are quite extraordinary." explained Jason Field, lead programmer of the M-Tron. He added, "Bands including The Beatles, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Manfred Mann and Oasis have used the original Mellotron to great effect, and now these fantastic sounds are available from a VST plug-in."

The M-Tron retails for US$69.95 plus shipping and is available in distinctive flight-case packaging from retailers.
