Sound Chaser Unveils the NCStudio

August 29, 2000

Sound Chaser, an Audio and Music computer system integrator has announced the NCStudio, a new Multi-CPU sampling solution for power users of Nemesys’ acclaimed Gigastudio software. Designed to expand upon the Multi-processor technology developed by Nemesys for their NCS-44 Super Sampler, Sound Chaser's NCStudio is a fully modular system comprised of multiple, single or dual rack space computers. The NCStudio employs exclusive technology developed by Sound Chaser to achieve full performance out of GigaStudio with maximum space efficiency.

According to Paul Erlandson, president of Sound Chaser, "We've worked with Nemesys to produce a computer specification that is completely optimized for Gigastudio as a real-world solution for composers and studios that demand high polyphony and multitimbral capabilities."

The independence of the NCStudio machines offers much more flexibility for maintenance and mobility than the NCS-44, as well as higher polyphony potential with a significant cost savings. Unlike the original NCS-44, the NCStudio allows the user to choose the number of 1U or 2U machines that they would like to achieve their polyphony aspirations, starting at 160 voices. Also, NCStudio was specifically designed for Gigastudio, whereas the NCS-44 is a solution for the original GigaSampler.

According to Jim Van Buskirk, CEO of Nemesys Music, "Packed in a solid, modular 1U rack, Sound Chaser's NCStudio has updated the NCS SuperSampler legacy to leverage all the power of GigaStudio 160. The fundamental advances of hard disk based sampling have never been more accessible to professionals needing a rugged, rack mounted solution."

The NCStudio Machines can be networked together for easy and fast sample transfer, and include the ability to use a single keyboard, mouse, and monitor for use with up to 8 machines. Sound Chaser has implemented numerous Operating System optimizations to improve performance and stability w/ GigaStudio and each unit ships with a restore CD to quickly and easily return to original factory settings. Users can choose between several GigaStudio compatible audio and MIDI interfaces which are installed and thoroughly tested prior to shipping.
