Paladin Enterprises releases Maestro 2000, a computer
aided performance system (CAPS). Maestro 2000 enhances and extends musicians'
performance capabilities. Conceived by a composer/musician with the desire
to create and perform music not possible using traditional methods, the
goal of Maestro 2000 is to allow for the performance of any composition
that might be dreamt up.
In addition to providing numerous performance tools, Maestro provides
real time analysis for measuring the quality of a performance. Maestro's
duration analysis view shows a moving bar graph for each note as it is
played and released. This feature is accurate to 1/64th note, and the
view automatically scrolls as you perform. You can easily see when you
should release the notes you are playing. Notes that are held too long
based on the current tempo are shown with an increasing shade of red.
Maestro
provides a variety of performance controls that can be operated remotely
via MIDI. There is an easy to use capture feature that allow both notes
and controllers to be set as remote triggers. The advantage of using a
controller is that you can turn or push the controller to move each event
that the maestro control it is mapped to. For example, mapping a control
knob to the beat forward button will scroll the song forward by beat.
Maestro provides a jump button to jump to any point in the song, and remembers
where you last starting practicing a particular part of a song. You can
also easily switch between sequencer play back of what you are practicing
and performing it yourself.
There are many other features such as sending MIDI sync on any output,
a status control bar, variable analysis resolution, etc. A demo is available
for download, and the best way to really understand what Maestro is all
about.
