Soundscape Releases Mixtreme v1.1 Software July 16, 2000Soundscape Digital Technology has announced the release of Version 1.1 of their mixer software for the Mixtreme 16-Channel PCI card.
The main features added in v1.1 are full MIDI automation and remote
control, 96kHz operation with external clocks, a new sample accurate MTC
Chase/Trigger Slave ODE for ASIO-2 (Cubase VST and Nuendo), and inclusion
of the Windows 2000 drivers that were first released separately in
February. New 5.1 Surround mixing and panning elements have been added to
the LCRS panners, and full support for up to 7.1 Surround plug-ins is
included, with the addition of 6 and 8 channel mixer strips.
Control and automation of all standard parts of the Mixtreme real-time DSP
mixer is provided (faders, pans, LCRS and 5.1 surround panners, mutes,
solos, EQs, sends), and any parameters from DSP plug-ins, that are
enabled for automation, can also be assigned to external control knobs or
recorded via MIDI. A snapshot button outputs the entire mixer status to any
MIDI sequencer, and, as well as a global Enable/Disable, any of the mixer or
plug-in parameters can be individually enabled/disabled for automation.
The MIDI automation and remote control works in conjunction with
Soundscape's Console Manager software (v1.1), and supports a wide range
of hardware controllers (many with motorized faders), mixing consoles, and
standard MIDI controller messages, for use with MIDI sequencers. The Console
Manager is unique in that it allows multiple controllers of the same type,
or of different types, to be used simultaneously. For instance, a Mackie HUI
and a Peavey PC1600 could be assigned to different parts of the Mixtreme
mixer at the same time, as MIDI automation data is played from a sequencer.
Supported controllers with motorized faders include Mackie HUI, CM
Automation Motormix, JL Cooper MCS-3800, and all MCS accessories (MCS-3000X 8 channel expander and MCS-Bridge for up to 64 fader channels, master
surround panners like the MCS-Panner, and the motorized MCS Orbiter). These
controllers are fully integrated, and allow channel names, effects
parameter names/values, and metering to be displayed and/or controlled, with
bank selection, for moving to the next 8 faders (up to 64 channels).
Other supported hardware controllers include JL Cooper CS-10, Penny & Giles
MM16/DC16, and via the programmable MIDI Mixer Map, any controller that
transmits MIDI Continuous/Switch Controller messages (Peavey PC1600,
Phatboy, MIDI keyboards, mixing consoles).
Supported and tested mixing consoles include Yamaha 02R/03D/01V, Tascam
TMD1000/4000, Spirit 324/328, and Mackie d8B.
Any Windows MIDI sequencer can be connected internally to Console Manager,
using virtual MIDI ports provided by MIDI loopback drivers (Hubis or
MIDI Yoke), for full automation of all the Mixtreme functions. For instance,
since Mixtreme has multi-client drivers, this would allow Cakewalk or Logic
Audio to automate Mixtreme Plug-ins that are assigned to
Gigasampler/Gigastudio or Reaktor channels.
Mixtreme v1.1 and Console Manager v1.1 can be downloaded from Soundscape's
web site, and are free of charge for all registered Soundscape users. For more information, contact:
