Graph Tech has announced a new option in their F.A.A.S. (Fat Ass Acoustic Sound) pickup line, this time incorporating the pickups into their String-Saver saddles for guitar and bass, retrofitable for most Strat style, Tele style, Wilkinson, Tune-o-matic, PRS, and P/J-Bass bridges.
Custom engineered piezo crystals are strategically implanted in a set of Graph Tech's patented String-Saver saddles. The signal is then processed through the Acousti-Cell Pro Pre-amp or Bass Pre-amp (an integral part of the FAAS sound) resulting in the capture of the natural acoustics of your electric guitar.
The signal can be amplified or recorded directly, without feedback or mic placement problems associated with a live or studio amplified acoustic guitar.
"We searched North America to find a crystal expert who could cut the Graph Tech piezo crystal to our specifications. The crystal in our FAAS Pickup System creates an authentic acoustic sound that will astound guitar players all over the world."
Dave Dunwoodie, President of Graph Tech Guitar Labs.
The Acousti-Cell Pro features automatic switching for mono or stereo applications. Plug in a mono or stereo cable and the Acousti-cell automatically senses the cable used and routes both the FAAS and magnetic pickups signals accordingly.
Add plug-in accessories into the micro patch bay on the preamp such as a "quick switch" for switching between piezo and magnetic pickups or combining both, a mid/dark switch for a new FAAS sound, or provide 9 V power to an active magnetic pickup system eliminating the need for two 9 V batteries.
Other features include an onboard piezo/magnetic mix volume -and an automatic battery-off sensor eliminating the need for a bulky nine pin output jack.
Prices for pickups from $109.95 USD MSRP.
Acoustic-cell Pro Pre-amps $89.95 USD MSRP.
